We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Monique Johnson a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Monique, thanks for joining us today. We’d love to go back in time and hear the story of how you came up with the name of your brand?
Whenever people hear the name, Hurt2Healed Apothecary, I think the first reaction is confusion. Many people don’t know what an apothecary is, so I love to use that time to share my story and how the name was birthed.
Hurt2Healed was never intended to be a business name.
Early in our marriage, my husband and I experienced an extremely difficult situation that brought us to the brink of divorce.
At that time there was a very popular song on the radio by Christian group artist, MercyMe titled, “The Hurt and The Healer.” That song lead us through that very dark period in our lives and God restored our relationship. A few years later we started a marriage podcast “Hurt2Healed Marriage.” After the podcast, I began formulating products for my family as we suffer from extremely sensitive skin and alas…Hurt2Healed Apothecary was born!
So a sad time, led me to an encouraging song, which gave me a business name that allows me to share a personal story with my customers.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
Hurt2Healed Apothecary was created after I had a severe adverse reaction to a well known body wash brand.
My children and I have suffered from skin sensitivity and there were very few products we could use.
I have a background in scientific applications and biology. Using that knowledge and my passion for creativity, I began formulating skincare products.
After a year of research and testing, I officially launched H2H!
Hurt2Healed Apothecary has one main goal; to give people high quality products that not only smell good, but are specifically designed for sensitive skin.
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
This is something that I’m still actively building. Integrity is the key to reputation. Creating a great consistent product maintains your product credibility. Word of mouth will always be the best marketing tool for anyone and people trust when someone refers a product to them.
What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
The best source of new clients for me is social media. Not in the terms of customers ordering directly through my page, but word-of-mouth from customer testimonials and sharing my products with their audience.
