It’s rewarding, but most business owners we’ve spoken sometimes think about what it would have been like to have had a regular job instead. Have you ever wondered that yourself? As a business owner, I find immense fulfillment in the journey of empowering women and witnessing their confidence and dreams flourish. While there are moments when I contemplate returning to finance, the joy derived from impacting lives and the gratitude expressed by those I’ve coached or connected with during coaching sessions or women’s empowerment events reaffirm my commitment to this path. The simple tap on the shoulder, thanking me for what we do means so much to me. It’s not just about me; it’s about the collective effort of my team, who serve as pillars of support and motivation. Their dedication reminds me that we’re in this together, propelling me to continue striving for meaningful impact and growth.

Born and raised in New Orleans, I’m Monique, an author, life coach, self-proclaimed purpose pusher, a passionate advocate for women’s empowerment, travel, and living life authentically. My journey began with a steadfast commitment to dismantling the myth of inadequacy and instilling the belief that women are inherently capable of achieving our deepest desires. Through my work, I bring women together to heal from past traumas and pursue success with unwavering confidence.

My proudest accomplishment lies in the supportive community we’ve cultivated, fostering an environment where women can introspect, heal, and flourish. Just as a caterpillar transforms into a butterfly, I believe women possess innate resilience to overcome life’s obstacles. My role is to provide the tools and a nurturing space for them to thrive collectively, because, like the butterfly, we’re stronger together.

Have you ever had to pivot?

I’ve experienced numerous pivots in my life, but perhaps the most significant was transitioning from a career in finance to becoming a full-time business owner in 2020. The decision to leave my job was made before the world faced shutdowns, leaving me with no choice but to make the leap and commit to making my business thrive. While the pivot was challenging and required perseverance, it proved immensely rewarding.

Amidst this transition, I accomplished several milestones, including publishing a second book, forming a partnership to expand my business into new areas, and continuing to inspire others through virtual events and online coaching. Despite the uncertainties, this pivot allowed me to embrace new opportunities and ultimately grow both personally and professionally.

We’d love to hear the story of how you turned a side-hustle into a something much bigger.

My journey into entrepreneurship wasn’t a typical transition from a side hustle to a full-time business; instead, it began as an extracurricular passion project focused on connecting and empowering women. It all started in 2012 when I initiated women’s meetups as a means of fostering connections within my community. The sheer joy I experienced from these gatherings fueled my determination to continue hosting them.

Over time, my passion evolved into the creation of Purpose Driven Motivation, a Life and Wellness Institute dedicated to empowering women. It wasn’t about simply scaling up a side hustle; rather, it was about nurturing a vision to inspire and uplift others on a larger scale. Key milestones along this journey included the establishment of my company and the development of programs and services tailored to support women in their personal and professional growth. Through unwavering dedication and a commitment to my purpose, my “extracurricular activity” blossomed into a fulfilling career path centered around empowering women to lead purposeful lives.
