Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Monique Hamler. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Monique, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Let’s talk legacy – what sort of legacy do you hope to build?
I hope to be remembered as someone who made people feel seen, heard, and valued. I make it my mission to honor humanity through every interaction. We live in such an isolated world, and if I can build a community where people feel safe expressing their perspectives, hopes, and dreams, I know I’ve served this world well.
Monique, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My name is Monique Hamler, and I am the Owner and Visionary of The Millennial Perspective LLC, a writing hub specializing in content writing, copywriting, and curriculum development. The Millennial Perspective started as an inspirational blog that discusses life from the lens of a millennial and offers tips on how to use those experiences to live the abundant life God has given us.
As my writing gained traction, inquiries from business owners came asking if I would offer content writing and copywriting services. My past work in the non-profit industry led me to an opportunity to develop a curriculum based on youth development and empowerment. Since the calls kept coming, I’ve decided to take a chance on myself and turn my passion work into an official business. My main clients are small businesses in their early stages. I enjoy working with this population because I know the enormous amount of work it takes to get started, and it’s my goal to alleviate some of that load.
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
Building strong relationships is essential for establishing a positive reputation. Throughout my career, others recognized my work ethic and readiness to assist wherever needed. As I became more visible in the industry, former colleagues referred me, which helped me attract new clients.
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
One major thought pattern I had to unlearn was that everything needed to be perfect before starting a business. That idea held me captive for years. I wanted to start a curriculum development business in 2017, but I let my fears and insecurities slow me down. I thought I wasn’t educated enough in the business field to fulfill my dream. Who knew that (7) years later, I would be living out my dream and more! Truth is, we are life-long learners, there is always time to grow! We should never let the inside noise of insecurity speak louder than our heart’s desires.
