We were lucky to catch up with Monique Gomez recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Monique thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Was there a defining moment in your professional career? A moment that changed the trajectory of your career?
The first time I was invited to co-teach a workshop on sexuality, it was for a group of women who were interested in learning more about awakening their erotic energy. This group was a mix of ages, ethnicities, and identities, yet they all had one thing in common, a desire to connect to their authentic sexuality. As I led the workshop, I realized how much passion I had to help people feel empowered by understanding their bodies, the complexities of their erotic landscape, and the energy that lives within each of them. We all came together to learn from one another, share our stories, take the shame out of talking about s*x and normalize the vast experiences we each have. That workshop solidified my work as an educator and coach and propelled me into the work of conscious sexuality and healing.

Monique, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My journey to my work as a s*x educator and coach began with an interest in health education. I received a bachelor’s degree and ran a women’s resource center at the local hospital. During this time, I realized I wanted to learn how to work with people one on one and do more healing work. That led me to become a massage therapist where I learned a holistic perspective on health and dove into energetic work. I soon discovered Tantric teachings and began my own healing through them. I have spent years studying human sexuality, relationships, communication, trauma, and how our human experience lives through the body. My work is based on consciousness, bringing in mindful practice with somatic awareness. I have studied shamanism and earth medicines which enrich the scope in which I view healing. My signature program is an eight-week online course that dives into rich aspects of sexuality for yoni bodied people. I feel passionate about helping people find their authentic sensual expression, using their voice, and healing shame around s*x so they can be in satisfying relationships not only with others but with themselves. My proudest moments have been when clients express their gratitude for the work we have done together and share how their lives have changed from accepting their authenticity.
Training and knowledge matter of course, but beyond that what do you think matters most in terms of succeeding in your field?
I think the most important thing I can do is be authentic. I need to show up for my own healing and practice what I preach. The realm of sexuality can be confusing with many beliefs and expectations that keep us in shame. By working on my own shame and learning how to express authentically from my heart, I feel that will bring the most success in transforming the field.

What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
Doing in-person workshops where I share space with my clients. These tend to impact their experience and they share with others who then want to join in.
