We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Monica Theophilus a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Monica thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?
My mission is to help people create and solidify a firm foundation for living a fearless and purposeful life that they are destined to live. They will be equipped and empowered to live a life of intention as they learn to renew their mindset, conquer limiting beliefs, discover their hidden talents and gifts, execute their purpose with precision, and learn entrepreneurial fundamentals while thriving in their purpose.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
In 2020 I published my first book, “How We Met: Brokenness and Rejection Meets Jesus.” Afterward, I received a lot of questions from people who followed me on social media about how to write a book, so I began to share tips and give them advice to get them started. One day, I received an Instagram DM from someone who wanted to be mentored by me. The person shared concerns about their God-given purpose and the desire to create but they did not know where to start. As a result, I developed a six-week coaching course based on the book of Judges in the Bible. In Judges chapter six, a young man is struggling with believing he is worthy and fit to become a leader, however, God reminds him that his past failures do not define him. The young man Gideon needed a mindset shift, a renewed mind to become who he was destined to be. This revelation led me to name my coaching business Kingdom Renewed Coaching. After a year, I expanded my business by providing business, brand, and book coaching. My ultimate goal is to help people discover their talents and unwrap the gifts that are hidden deep inside them. I desire to see them live and work with intention and clarity. I’m most proud of providing Kingdom solutions to Kingdom problems and helping my clients birth their Kingdom books and dreams.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
I was twelve years old when I discovered my passion for writing. However, as I grew older I realized that many people thought my dream was foolish. Since I desired their approval at the time, I decided in my first year of college to change my major to education. It seemed safer and the journey more predictable. Yet, while working on my undergrad and as a full-time retail employee, I felt unfulfilled. I was disappointed because my dream as a little girl looked nothing like I thought it would. In 2018, I began blogging and sharing my blogs through social media. It reignited my passion for writing and I collaborated with other bloggers and contributed to Christian magazines. Finally, in 2019 I decided to quit my retail job, changed my major to English, and began drafting the manuscript of my first book. My book was published in June 2020 and since then I’ve published nine more books. Through that journey, I learned not to allow myself to be restricted by people’s limitations. I would much rather give everything I have to my dream than wallow in what-ifs.
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
I built my social media presence through blogging and sharing a weekly newsletter. I would write a blog once a week and share a snippet of it on Instagram so people would continue reading my blog page. It was a good start, but I needed to grow my audience. Therefore, I created a landing page with a free e-book and those who wanted to stay in the know about upcoming blogs and books subscribed through that page. Further, those who are subscribed get the latest updates first, discounts, and get to join my private prayer community group. Newsletters for any business are important because they help engage our audience and inform them about the exciting things we have coming up.
