We recently connected with Monica Schwemin and have shared our conversation below.
Monica, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. What sort of legacy are you hoping to build. What do you think people will say about you after you are gone, what do you hope to be remembered for?
This is an amazing question and I have often thought about this as a child. I want to be remembered for impacting and changing the world. I want to be remembered for helping to empower people, helping them to see their worth. I want to be a guide to millions and an example of how living life as ourselves, shadows and all, is the path to truly doing what we came into this life in this world to do.
I want people to read my words and be inspired. I want them to watch my videos and start there day a little more comfortable in who they are. I want people to be able to always access my stories, my speeches, and words and wisdom and vulnerabilities and be able to start to live more in the moment as who they are and start to create or continue creating what they are here to create. I want to have helped billions of people step into their authentic selves. And help billions of people to create their creation, their business, their art, from what feels right for them, no one else. I want to leave behind a legacy that lives on and is timeless, like the words in Dylan song or a Maya Angelou poem.
I believe that we are all here to learn to live as ourselves and to fully step into the puzzle piece we are here to be, so we can create and contribute what we are here to contribute, in our own way, our own style and learn to listen to our inner voice as an authentic guide.
I think people will say that I was inspiring. That my words helped them see the beauty in the raw and difficult things in life. That I inspired them to take big leaps and questions and helped them step into themselves. I think they will say, Monica helped me to see how beautiful I am now, as I continue to work on who I am becoming.
I want to be remembered for my innovative ways to connect to your intuition. I want to be known for my ways to tap into that creativity and creative thinking we all have. I want to be know for my authentic expression of myself and my emotions, and the service I provide the world, all through love. When people know me, I want them to feel free to express themselves without the fear of judgement from the outside world. I want them to trust in who they are and what they know.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I am a passionate, empathic, Artfully Intuitive healer and coach. I have a passion to help people step into their unique energy and show up authentically for themselves in their life and business. I help people learn to trust in themselves; practice self compassion and bring awareness to the truth all through authentic self love.
I use energy healing, Soul Purpose Mapping™, Intuitive Readings, Art and Coaching to help people step into trust and self love, and be able to show up in each moment as their true authentic self. I also practice Theta healing. I also give intuitive card readings as well. I want to help people learn how to step into their intuitive creative selves so that they can learn how to shine their light on everything they do, including their business. Your business will not be as successful as it can be, until you start doing things the way that you are meant to do them. You have to trust in your own intuitive hits and learn to listen to what feels good to you, what you know is right, not anyone else. Together we have to learn to look inward not outward when doing things in our lives and our business.
I help my clients with anxiety. I help them figure out their wants and desires. I help them to grow and guide them into healing on their healing journey.
I got here through my own journey into self love and stepping into my truths and authenticity. I am big energy who made them selves small from a young age, I am an emotional empath so I could tell when I made others uncomfortable, so I dimmed my life to make others comfortable. I lived in servitude to others, meaning I thought I needed to give and give to help them, but in reality I had a fear of unlovability and abandonment, so I would help people all the time, in hopes they would continue to love me. I had no boundaries, and no sense of self, because I could become the chameleon in any crowd and fit in. I lost my own truths and desires and wants, because to me they didn’t matter. I suffered from anxiety linked to fear of judgement, linked to that unlovability. I had trouble being in the moment because I was always feeling that shame of the past and the anxiety of the future.
I suffered from multiple traumas growing up, my ACES score is a 7. I tried to shut my brain down through drinking and other things. I had trouble coping with myself and the over thinking of my brain.
When I was 28 I had my first child and she changed the trajectory of my life. I wanted to be a healthier better version of myself for her. I wanted her to have a better start then I did, and have better self love and confidence. So I started working on mine. I learned to cope with my struggles without any numbing substances. I learned to step into my own energy without alcohol and I learned that I am worthy and lovable as I am.
This journey wasn’t overnight, It was many years of reading and working on myself, learning awareness, and seeing the truths, my truths without judgment.
When I went to my first women’s retreat.. Fenomenon, and I met other amazing healers, this really sped up my healing. I started getting help from some women that I met there, and they helped with my awareness of my gifts, some of the modalities I use today. I realized that we need a coach and a guide, and I wanted to be that for other people. I wanted to share my story and help others pick them selves up and take each day as a new day, letting go of the judgement from the days of old.
If I could pull myself out of the way I lived life in the past, and gain the self love, self acceptance, self compassion and grace that I was worthy of, then I could help others do the same. We are not defined by our past. I learned that when you step into the energy we are here to encompass, then we get to start to practice life as we are meant to be. When we are creating and not holding back who we are, then our anxiety started to lesson it’s control. Stepping into trust and authenticity is the base step into living the life you want to live and making your impact on the world. I am a teacher and I am hear to teach you how to leave your legacy behind.
I started the path to the business I do about 3 years ago. I took a Reiki training and then sat on it for months, until one day I heard you better ask your friend for a room in her spa, or someone else will. So that morning I called her and asked and started taking clients within a week of that. I tend to dive in head first to things and this was that experience.
Since then my business has evolved. I started as doing Reiki, but quickly learned that I have my own style and my own spin to things. I felt more comfortable calling in intuitive energy healing, as all sorts of different energies would flow out of me. I started writing intuitive messages before my session as an added bonus to help give some clarity to my clients as to what step to take next in their journey. I soon learned that I could write these intuitive messages with an intention in mind and they are super powerful. I have learned that If I have no expectations for the session, and run it intuitively using whatever tools I feel called to use, the session is so powerful, because it is tailored to the individual.
I have recently been expanding my business and now I offer distance intuitive card readings with the option to add energy healing to aid in the reading. I also specifically offer emotional clearing and balancing with coaching on how to keep your energy flowing.
I am a healer and a coach, and I have learned that it is not my job to heal you, it is my job to help you learn how to walk your healing journey and do your own healing.
What sets me apart from the rest? Compassion is a strength of mine, I am able to see the truth, talk about the truth without my client feeling judged. I draw clients who have been through what I have been through and I am able to specifically help guide them, and show them grace because I have been there.
I observe and take in life in a way that is very philosophical, I am always asking why and dissecting every little detail so that I may understand and know what the very core truth is. I live my life in truth without judgment. I strive to only see things as they are, not as they should be. And I see so many people struggling with who they are, and reaching for who they should be, I want to help people step into to who they are, love them and let go of all the shoulds.
The name Artfully Intuitive came from my sister actually and I loved it, but did not know why until this last week. Our art is our soul language, it is how we express that which is unable to be expressed by words and it is very powerful. Words are wonderful, but they are limiting, and art is not limiting. So the way I run my business is in my own creative artful way, and I am not limited in what I can do. I trust and listen and let my soul speak. There are so many ways to heal that are not quite understood, but they are very much images and art, because words are limiting, and there are not limits to what we can do.
We are creative beings here to create, and if we are not creating, well then we are not completely letting our energy flow, and there can be blocks, and anxiety. Art and intuition are very similar. How you tap into that creative flow and that intuition are one and the same. So I like to use art to help people learn to trust in the process of healing, to learn to tap in and to trust in their own inner compass and their own intuition.

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
I have many lessons from my healing journey that illustrate this. I think you are wanting to know from a business viewpoint, but let me tell you that to truly excel in business we have to learn to be our own selves. I think the biggest lesson in this journey to unlearn is that there is a blueprint, a step by step plan to being successful.
This is simply not true. Just because the plan that someone else followed helped them be successful, does not mean you are meant to do it like them or that it will work for you. We have to function from a place of authenticity in business and in life, and part of knowing how to do or run your business, YOUR business, is to learn how trust in your intuitive creative self. We are not here to do things like anyone else, we are here to do them out own way. And we can’t learn to do them out our way until we start to look inward for the answers, until we learn to listen to our own intuition and our own inner compass. We have to stop looking for that validation outside of ourselves, and look inward. When we look for validation outside of ourselves we give our power away. Our power to take action, because people are not going to see it the way you see it. So they will not understand and if you are looking for them to be just as excited as you, and they are not, you think your idea is not good. But the only way to know if you idea is successful is to take action on it, and be willing to risk failure. We all have this power to take action at anytime. We have to stop giving it away, and we have to be willing to risk failure to gain the wisdom needed to truly do our business the way we are meant to.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
My whole life has been resilience. I have pushed past all of the odds and the judgements of others my whole life. I have picked myself up and learned to love myself. I have learned my worth and learned I am worthy of all that I could ever imagine… I have fallen and gotten back up, over and over and over again.
The biggest lesson I can share about resilience, is that we are not to be judged on our yesterdays. Every moment is a moment to change the direction of our lives. We don’t need to feel shame or to keep paying for our past mistakes. We make amends, we figure out what we want to do different, we thank ourselves for being aware that we didn’t like they way things went and we move on in this energy of trust that we are going to do better the next time. Shame fills us up when we look to what we wish we could change about the past and anxiety fills us up when we think about control things that have yet to happen.
Living in the moment and letting go of the control and stepping into trust of self is the key to resilience. Shame is a lie. We are allowed to make mistakes and learn. So come into the moment, and feel what we need to feel, and experiencing life as it is being handed to you, not as you wish it was being handed to you. Build that foundation and base of love and trust in self, so that you know that you will be able to handle anything that comes your way. It may hurt, it may be hard, but we can do hard things. We gain wisdom from putting our knowledge to action and along with that comes failure. We are not losing anything when we fail, we are gaining wisdom every single time.
So resilience is coming into the moment and navigating life from here. Feeling, making amends, and trusting from this place, and allowing shame to go away and anxiety to stay in the future where we will never hit. Because the moment is now!!
