We recently connected with Monica Morrissey and have shared our conversation below.

Monica , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. What do you think matters most in terms of achieving success?

Finding your passion is the most critical aspect of your life, which then makes work feel like it isn’t work. What could you do all day long and not feel like you are doing a job that you hate? Finding this changed my life. I am a natural born teacher but the educational system was more worried about standardized testing while I wanted to have people find what they absolutely love to do. I left education to pursue my career and have never looked back. Now, I am my own boss, make my own hours and absolutely love helping people. Teaching people about the spiritual world has been a calling for me. When I was at my worst, I was sick and stressed. I knew I needed a way out. I put pen to paper because someone said writing was therapeutic. I rolled my eyes but did it anyway! Now,three books later and I left a 32 year career, I can say it really transformed my life!

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?

I put pen to paper to share a “cool” story about finding some dimes after my father died. He had given me a dime necklace from his coin collection. Although I believed in the spiritual world, working in public education held me back from sharing this part of myself. I hid it well. When I shared my story, My life changed so much. I continued to write about signs of the after life. My first book was called Dimes From Heaven How Coins and Coincidences Helped Me Discover My Life as an Empath. It was a deep journey from within and I shared so much about feeling lost in this world. Then, crazy synchronicities happened in my life while I was writing so my second book was More Dimes from Heaven A Journey to Self-Publishing. As a natural born teacher I shared the coincidences and helped anyone who might want to write their own book. Many people loved my stories but kept asking, “How do I get a sign?” My third book helps to answer this question. It is called Once Upon a Dime. Heaven is Talking to Us. Do You know How to Listen? The stories are a compilation of readers reaching out to me to talk about their signs from their loved ones and also more events that happened to me. This led me to open a business where I offer Reiki classes, Past Life work, dream analysis and so much more. My business is called Intuitive Wellness because I love to teach about energy work and finding the things in life that light you up. When you do this, life becomes so much better! My business is founded on the belief that we are a soul with a body, not a body with a soul. Everything I do is to help you get back to your true self.

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?

I had to unlearn that I was supposed to only take care of others. I had to learn that it was ok to prioritize myself because if I wasn’t well, then I wasn’t able to care for others. Before writing and opening my business I attached my self worth with my job and how much I worked. Now, I know that it is ok to be 100% me and to take care of myself first. I am worthy just as I am and it is ok to just “be” instead of “do”!

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?

I am building my audience organically. It is important to stick with one platform that you use the most and feel comfortable. I see some people trying to use all platforms and they get burnt out. I began with a Facebook page but quickly pivoted to Facebook groups as nobody was seeing my page. I try to post something of value everyday. I sometimes go LIVE and I post podcasts that I am on. I ask questions to increase engagement. I don’t worry if people leave my group as there are many people in the world. This work isn’t for everyone and I know that I’ll attract the people who are interested!
