Alright, Monica thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. We’d love to hear about a project that you’ve worked on that’s meant a lot to you.
As an artist, I have always been on a journey to discover my artistic voice. To explain what this is, it’s when someone sees your work, they can recognize who the artist is. I had tried various subjects and mediums, from landscapes to still live’s to portraits, but I never felt a strong connection and nothing stood out. However, through a series of exploration projects of techique and subject, I found my artistic voice. I focused on two subjects that were close to my heart: wine and horses.
You see, being from Spain, wine has always been a part of my life and culture. And honestly, who doesn’t love a good glass of wine? From the deep reds of Cabernet Sauvignon to the golden yellows of Chardonnay, I painted it all. I enjoyed painting the various colors and hues of different wines, capturing the texture and movement of wine as it swirled around in a glass, and the way the light played off of it. As for horses, well, I’ve always had a thing for their majestic beauty and majestic… well, horse-ness. And let’s be real, horses are just big dogs with better hair. All joking aside, I really felt at peace when painting them and this is why I’m drawn to paint horse.
The subjects combined with my mixed media stlye really came together during these projects. Through combining abstract acrylic pouring techniques with traditional oil painting people recognize my work. The most rewarding part of this project has not only been to find my artistic voice, but moreso the opportunity to share my art with others. So, cheers to my artistic journey and the many bottles of wine that have inspired me along the way.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I’m the proprietor of a boutique art business, specializing in creating unique and original mixed media paintings. My innovative approach, which blends acrylic pouring with traditional oil details, results in a truly captivating and sophisticated visual experience. The abstract elements in my paintings are only evident upon closer inspection, creating a depth and complexity that truly captures the beauty of the subject. I invite you to take a moment to relax, enjoy my art, and let it inspire you to look deeper.
Is there a mission driving your creative journey?
My artistic journey is driven by a combination of personal and professional aspirations. On a personal level, I want to make my parents proud and show them that their encouragement and support has led to my success. On a professional level, I strive to establish myself as a reputable and respected artist in the industry. I understand that motivation is key in the creative process and use it as the driving force behind my art, guiding and inspiring my work. Each time I sit down to create, I take a moment to reflect on what drives me and channel that motivation into my artistic endeavors. Despite the challenges, I’ve never given up on my dreams and have found my artistic voice through my unwavering dedication to my craft.

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
One of the most valuable lessons I have learned on my creative journey is that simply creating art and putting it online does not necessarily attract buyers. I had to rethink and relearn how to connect with those who truly appreciate and value my work. Building a community and a personal connection with my audience through storytelling and relationship-building became essential for my success as an artist. While marketing doesn’t come naturally to me, I have learned that it is important to be consistent, authentic, and transparent in order to build trust with potential buyers. Now, I focus on fostering a tribe of collectors who share my passion and vision, and this has helped me to not only grow as an artist but also reach a wider audience.
