We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Monica Le Baron. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Monica below.
Alright, Monica thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Was there a moment in your career that meaningfully altered your trajectory? If so, we’d love to hear the backstory.
A few years ago, I was anxious, chronically stressed, and suffering from insomnia and pain.
As a woman, I find it easier to show up for everyone else before ever thinking about myself. This was part of the reason why I was struggling. I thought that spending time on self-care was selfish.
But something was seriously wrong. I felt unhappy, unworthy, and unlovable. I wasn’t sure how to process my feelings, and that made me feel even worse. I had no idea what to do, so I started researching anything that could help me feel better.
I tried psychotherapy, acupuncture, self-help books, and every other healing modality I could find. While some of them helped me feel a little better, nothing gave me the relief I wanted most.
I started to doubt myself even more and fear that I would never feel happy again. A friend of mine who knew I was seeking ways to heal introduced me to a yoga therapist. At first I thought this was a great way to get “free yoga classes” since my insurance would pay for these services. Little did I know, the therapy aspect to yoga therapy was exactly what I needed. With yoga therapy I found what I’d been searching for and so much more; that is when my life began to change.
Together with my yoga therapist, I created short routines of simple techniques that helped me become more aware of my body, feel calm at a moment’s notice, fall asleep at night, and feel rested in the morning. I started getting eight hours of sleep each night. That was life changing after so many years of insomnia!
Just by getting better sleep, my whole life changed.
My mood improved, I had more energy, I felt more focused, and I was able to get more work done with less effort. By taking ownership of my healing and happiness I discovered joy again.
My journey into self-care with yoga therapy showed me that self-care isn’t selfish, it’s the only thing that helps us show up at our best to serve others. I started to take better care of myself in all aspects of my life, I learned how to love myself for who I am, I started eliminating toxic people, activities, and products from my life, and I started having more good days.
Yoga therapy helped me develop self-love, a deeper compassion to heal past issues, reconnect with my body so that I can understand what it needs to be at it’s best, release stress and anxiety so that I can live in the present, and finally feel rested after getting a good night’s sleep.
This is why I became a yoga therapist. It has changed my life for the better, and I want to help other women heal to rediscover the joy in their lives.
Monica, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I’m a sleep coach and certified yoga therapist, who specializes in helping women with sleep disorders get a good night’s rest.
Using my signature program, Sleep Simplified, I have helped hundreds of clients overcome insomnia, sleep apnea, and sleep deprivation. After just one session, my clients have been able to get two extra hours of restful sleep, wake up fewer times in the middle of the night, and fall asleep within minutes of their head hitting the pillow.
My journey from corporate burnout and dealing with anxiety, insomnia and depression helped me develop these simple yet effective practices that are now helping hundreds of women finish the stress cycle, reset their nervous system and balance the layers of their being (physical, psycho-emotional, energetic, wisdom, and bliss).
My expertise has been featured in media outlets and apps including Insight Timer, the International Association of Yoga Therapists, Healthy Woman, OM Yoga, Telemundo and more.
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
Great question.
I think 5 factors have helped people to get to know me, like me, and trust me in my industry.
1. SIMPLE TOOLS. I keep things extra simple and doable, so my clients can do the work and experience faster and more profound sleep transformation even if they have a hectic schedule.
2. MY OWN TRANSFORMATION. I’m living proof that my simple yoga therapy tools work. I use my own struggles with insomnia, anxiety, and depression to help others get a good night’s rest and live a joyful life.
3. MY PROFESIONAL TRAINING. I took my Integrative Yoga Therapy and neuro-muscular balance (Positional Therapy) programs at Kripalu (The Harvard of Yoga). Training with the best in the field got me an excellent star by setting high-quality standards and learning skills to support my client’s journey and take care of myself in the process.
4. INTERNATIONAL NETWORK. Word of mouth is one of the best forms for people to recommend your services. I have lived in Mexico, China, Sweden, and the USA therefore, I have an extensive network of colleagues, friends, and family worldwide. This also makes it easy for me to establish conversations and friendships with people I meet daily.
5. CONSISTENCY. Overnight success takes years! That’s why it’s so important to me to be patient, to keep showing up, and keep delivering value to my community. I trust that everything arrives at the right moment, not one minute before or after. So my job is to keep showing up.
Have any books or other resources had a big impact on you?
Yes, many!
I’m a bookworm, and I have a background in business, so I’m a business geek as well.
These are the 3 books I read over and over because of the tremendous impact they keep bringing into my life.
1. THE ARTIST’S WAY BY JULIA CAMERON.
This book not only helped me to overcome my anxiety, insomnia, and depression it also gave me the tools to learn to listen to my intuition. It has been very helpful in solving problems in my business.
2. SECRETS OF SIX-FIGURE WOMEN BY BARBARA STANNY.
I recently re-read this book, and I was blown away by how much I have grown in the past 5 years as a woman, therapist, and business owner. This book will help you transform your money mentality and to remember that you’re not alone in this entrepreneurial journey.
3. CRUCIAL CONVERSATIONS: TOOLS FOR TALKING WHEN STAKES ARE HIGH BY RON MCMILLAN.
Thanks to this book, I was more conscious that not only presidents or CEOs handle crucial conversations. We all have crucial conversations where opinions vary, stakes are high, and emotions run strong daily. This is an excellent book to strengthen your conversational skills and build strong relationships.
Hope you enjoy them!
