Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Monica King. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Monica, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Coming up with the idea is so exciting, but then comes the hard part – executing. Too often the media ignores the execution part and goes from idea to success, skipping over the nitty, gritty details of executing in the early days. We think that’s a disservice both to the entrepreneurs who built something amazing as well as the public who isn’t getting a realistic picture of what it takes to succeed. So, we’d really appreciate if you could open up about your execution story – how did you go from idea to execution?
When thinking about launching King Concept Interiors, I wanted to create something meaningful and mass appealing. Turning King Concepts from an idea to an actual business took only a few months of planning. Aside from establishing the business name, a lot of the ground work was establishing what I wanted the brand image to be including, the logo, and the meaning of the brand. I also took a few months building up my social media accounts, prior to my official launch in order to network and get the brand out there.
In order to get to the “launch” phase, I had to just take a leap of faith and jump. I wasn’t 100% “ready” to launch, as I didn’t even have my formal website ready when I made it official. I am so glad I launched when I did, because I couldn’t imagine all of the business I would have missed out on if I never jumped. My best advice is to simply start and chase your dreams. You will learn so much on your journey along the way and that’s the beauty of growth.

What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
The best source of new clients for my business are the relationships I have built and from word of mouth. Majority of my clients have come directly from someone I have built a personal relationship with, and referrals from previous clients.
How did you build your audience on social media?
Building an audience on social media can be very overwhelming. I first created my social media platforms before launching my business to connect with individuals in the industry, familiarize myself with trends and start making a presence for my brand. I would suggest finding your niche and connecting with people who create and enjoy the same type of content that you do. The biggest impact of social media is to be social and network with others in your same industry.
