Monica , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Parents play a huge role in our development as youngsters and sometimes that impact follows us into adulthood and into our lives and careers. Looking back, what’s something you think you parents did right?

I’ve watch both Mom and Dad express their talents since I was a little girl. As I go through this journey I realize how they’ve impacted my life and career. As a child I remember my mom braiding hair, beauty in general was her thing. I didn’t have many years with her due to a horrific tragedy, but as the years go by I hear stories of how humane she was and how she didn’t mind going the extra mile, & my Dad is the exact same way.
As a little girl I’ve watch my dad express his talents in carpentry, He could literally build a house from the ground up. I remember him coming home one day telling us that his job had let him go. I was so worried, wondering how are we going to survive. My worries soon faded because my dad always made it happen, his talents kept the bills paid and food on the table.
After graduating highschool I though the grownup thing to do was to find a job and get paid. I remember him saying “ Monica what are you going to do with your life?” I remember the feeling of that question, I knew then I had to find my purpose and start my career.

Monica , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?

Most Wanted Beauty spa is located in Saint Louis Missouri. The mission is to enhance one’s natural beauty. Our services includes Lash Extensions, Facial treatments and brow services.

Most Wanted Beauty was created in 2016, My goal was to make sure women feel more confident day to day by providing semi permanent services that will cut their time down tremendously when getting ready for the day.

The beauty industry is a industry that keeps on growing. Sometimes it can get overwhelming with all the new trends and changes. When my clients come to Most Wanted Beauty spa their opinion is always valued, respected and appreciated. As a humanitarian I make it a goal to learn my clients to make sure their experience with me personable.

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?

Staying in my lane helped me build reputation, I noticed when I started to follow trends I would get discouraged. By staying in my own lane I was able to service a lot of clients that felt left out, by other service providers. When you are so focused on perfecting what’s trending it’s hard to set your self apart. Also when you understand trends you know that they don’t last long. Being versatile is the key but setting your self apart from the competition is the goal.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?

Covid-19 affected a lot of businesses in 2020, having to shut down all operations for a month then restricting operations after that. But no one really talks about how 2022 was the real struggle for most businesses, inflation was the biggest struggle for most businesses including mine. I remember when I was worried about making rent, business was extremely slow and I was constantly pulling money from savings. God really made sure I was okay, at that time I had to realize that I needed to cut back on a lot of things to stay afloat. Cutting back highlighted my struggles and made me perfect the things I wasn’t so good at in running my business. I needed that opportunity to slow down and focus on the business more.
