We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Monica Ferrari a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Monica , appreciate you joining us today. We’d love to have you retell us the story behind how you came up with the idea for your business, I think our audience would really enjoy hearing the backstory.
The idea for Soul Restoration Pilates was born from my personal journey of self-discovery and my passion for holistic well-being. I was inspired by a deep desire to cultivate meaningful connections and restore the harmony of the mind, body, and soul. My own transformative experiences with Pilates and the profound sense of community it brought into my life ignited the spark for this venture. I firmly believed that Pilates, with its emphasis on strength, flexibility, and mindfulness, possessed the power to heal not just physically, but also emotionally and spiritually. Thus, Soul Restoration evolved into more than just a fitness studio; it became a haven where individuals could embark on their own paths to self-improvement and forge genuine connections with others who shared the same journey. Through unwavering dedication and a genuine commitment to the well-being of my clients, I created a space that nurtures not only bodies but also the human spirit.
Monica , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
What I love most about Pilates is… Helping people feel better and stronger. I love progressing students to the next level. They’re always surprised at what they can do! It brings me so much joy.
I practice what I preach by…
Doing Pilates three times a week. It helps me stay connected with my body and my class.
My favorite Pilates exercise is…
Downstretch. When done properly, you engage your whole body in support of your back. There’s such beauty, strength and fluidity in one simple movement; it’s empowering.
I have certifications in…
Pilates, Life Coaching and Reiki
My teaching style is shaped by…
Self love. Over the years, I’ve worked to know myself on a deeper level and strive for a balanced lifestyle with internal harmony and gratitude. This understanding allows me to genuinely care for those around me.
Outside the studio I enjoy…
Gardening, traveling, cooking and a little philosophy.
What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
I hired a remodeling crew with the hope that their expertise would transform the space I rented into my dream studio. Believing in their professionalism, I decided to grant them the freedom to work without constant supervision. However, when the project was finally completed, I was dismayed to discover a final product that fell far short of my expectations. The craftsmanship was unprofessional, and there were glaring errors in the finishing touches. It was a disappointing experience that taught me the importance of staying actively engaged in any major renovation project to ensure that the desired standards are met.
