Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Money. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Money, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’d love to hear about a project that you’ve worked on that’s meant a lot to you.
My upcoming project; Everything is Everything, means the world to me. I learned so much about my work ethic, myself as an artist and the stories I want to tell. After dropping three, three-song projects (3 packs) I finally felt like I was in a place to make a body of work. It’s not the most cohesive thing I could have made and that’s why I love it so much and partially why the title is what it is. Everything is Everything – so many blissful life circumstances and patterns led to this project getting carried out.
Despite life, finances and just overall doubts from external forces and sometimes from myself, this project is an embodiment of an artist stepping more into their comfortability; ready to really put my foot on the gas – no brakes.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Going by my pen name and initials, ATM, for years, I now go by Money. I am a jack of many trades from rapping, to being a published author/poet, a podcaster, a playlist curator, a music and culture journalist, etc. The grind never really stops for me. I tend to say I was born into a love for creativity because I couldn’t imagine my life if I was not creating. A new or ongoing project lives in my head at all times, rent free.
What I aim to project and what every core fan of my art would say is the beauty of my art is its realness. I attempt to be as authentic as I possibly can because it’s all I have in this world; my realness. I want people to feel like they’re learning me in my songs but also seeing themselves more than anything. I want every personal interaction had with me or my art to leave my people inspired, warm and comforted.
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
I have always worked and operated with the saying “By Any Means Necessary,” always.
My work has always been greater and bigger than me – it’s a cultivation of the life I experience and the lives I am blessed to witness and experience. From the moment I started creating art, I was always dedicated to my creations having a deeper meaning; because my art always meant more than its surface.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
For me, the reward(s) of being a creative are far too many to really qualify one as the “most” rewarding. I will say, the beauty of limitless and free expression will always be unmatched; or rather the ability to utilize the expression. As a creative, it’s immensely gratifying for my art to express not only my feelings, but for my art to resonate so hard that it’s expressing the people consuming it’s feelings as well.
