We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Mone’t Horton. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Mone’t below.
Mone’t , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Can you talk to us about serving the underserved.
Yes, my business serves the underserved community.
For 15+ years I served in Human Resources, with a focus in workforce development where I gained extensive experience in coaching, advising, mentoring, onboarding and supervising. For much of my career, my work has included supporting special populations who were unemployed or unemployed including, but not limited to youth, adults and front-line incumbent employees connect to gainful and meaningful employment through creative education & career pathways, work-based learning, internships, apprenticeships, and on-the-job training opportunities.
Can I tell you something? While I always had a passion to help people, I never saw myself as
or even desired to be a coach, I simply wanted to serve and utilize my God-given skills, gifts and talent to the betterment of others. So, I ran from the position, but realized it was a part of the greater call on my life. It is interesting how the very thing that we run from becomes the thing that we are equipped, called and purposed to do—whether we believe it or not!
I experienced a SHIFT when I began to look at my life and my light and see that my time was consumed with people reaching out and confiding in me to assist them with major career transitions and life decisions. Now, wait a minute. I had to pause and once I paid attention, I took ownership, became knowledgeable and identified certification programs that aligned with my passion. I had a desire to serve and was committed to positioning myself to do so.
Today I am honored and humbled to serve as a certified coach, mentor, navigator and leader in ministry and the marketplace.
I believe that every individual has the potential to thrive in life by aligning their innate abilities, gifts, talents and skills with meaningful and fulfilling work. However, they must have a desire to put their potential to work.
My passion and superpower lie in empowering people who may find themselves unemployed, underemployed, feeling stuck, or trapped in unfulfilling work shift from merely surviving to THRIVING!
I equip them with the necessary skills to (1) evaluate where they are (2) identify what they really desire in their work and life and (3) take necessary steps that align their desires and actions to create the work-life they really want! My expertise is best experienced by people who are ready and committed to making a POWER MOVE.
I understand the importance of connecting the pieces of your life to stand powerfully in the world, manifesting your goals and dreams beyond your current situation. Whether you’re a young adult just starting out or a wise and experienced individual, I am here to guide you on your journey.

I am a creative and visionary at heart, on a mission to use EVERY gift that God placed inside of me to make a positive impact on the world. I love spending quality time with my family, fashion, traveling (especially near and in the water), dancing and so much more! I am committed to living my best life, while I am living.
Mo’s Enterprise was birthed out during my personal path of self-discovery. While I grew up in a family of entrepreneurs—on both sides, I still had my own journey and needed to explore all sides of me—my gifts, talents, skills and abilities—known and unknown. One day while working my 9-5 I looked up felt stuck, dissatisfied, and knew that there was so much more to what I was experiencing in work and overall life. I was not quite sure how it would all end up, but I knew for sure that I had to make a CHANGE! That change did not come without moments of self- doubt, but one thing is for sure, I learned that “what you are looking for is looking for you.” Shortly after I was exposed to a business opportunity that launched me into self-discovery, personal and professional development and I have not turned back. I have learned to embrace my journey- the good and the bad. Now, my goal is to help others get unstuck, so that they can live a fulfilled life NOW, no matter the challenges and situations they face. I believe that there is not a “one size fit all” solution to life, thus I want to serve, undergird and empower through offering a variety of tailorable services that include, but are not limited to, 1:1 and group coaching and consulting in core personal and professional areas essential to helping my clients to connect the pieces of their lives.
At this season in my life, I am most proud of my spiritual growth and obedience to God. My obedience has led me to taking risk that I would have NEVER taken had I not had a solid relationship, trust, and FAITH that God would not lead me astray. I have learned to navigate very low seasons that people would quickly say, “this is for the birds, you need to go back to what you know or what is easy or even begin to question God.” More recently, I shifted and quickly obeyed God in an area in my life where my obedience could be preserved as rebellion to many. Yet I stepped out and in to what I wholeheartedly believed God was saying for me. I am now into leaving my 9-5 for the 2nd time, standing on the Word that God ordained my exit and will divinely lead me to my next.
If I can leave anything with those that I have the honor to serve and encounter, it would be to trust the power that is ALREADY within. Many times, we spend too much time searching outside of ourselves, comparing, second guessing and wondering if we are enough because of how things “appear”—it is only an illusion. When we should be spending that time digging inside of us, exploring who we are, the purpose for which we were created—and the only way is through relationship, so that we can simply BE who we were created to be in the earth. With this, we can truly maximize our time here on earth. I believe we should LIVE while we are LIVING! We were meant to live abundantly, NOW.
I always remember Les Brown saying, “The graveyard is the richest place on earth, because it is here that you will find all the hopes and dreams that were never fulfilled, the books that were never written, the songs that were never sung, the inventions that were never shared, the cures that were never discovered, all because someone was too afraid to take that first step, keep with the problem, or determined to carry out their dream.”
Soooo, these days I am on a mission to use and share everything that God has placed inside of me as he grants opportunities to do so. I will not leave this earth full, I will be empty because I executed and stewarded my time towards the things I was created for. This is what I believe we all should do.
Christolyne M. Buie, one of my greatest mentors would always say, “these are my dues paying years.” That I believe it is for me—a time to give, serve and render aid to others to connect the pieces of their lives. She also recited often the poem, I have only just a minute by Dr. Benjamin E. Mays…
“I have only just a minute,
Only sixty seconds in it.
Forced upon me, can’t refuse it.
Didn’t seek it, didn’t choose it.
But it’s up to me
to use it.
I must suffer if I lose it.
Give account if I abuse it.
Just a tiny little minute,
but eternity is in it.”
I am forever grateful for my mother, Moniette S. Laury who did not abort me at birth when she could have let me go. My grandmother, Pastor Carolyn Scott who prayed her through and the plethora of other men and women who have made a tremendous impact on my life. Thank you for believing in me and pushing me forward!

What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
The best source of new clients for me has been referrals and word-of-mouth. I have been blessed to receive clients through clients sharing their experiences working with me and simply knowing me and the professional services provided no matter which product and/or services I am rendering under Mo’s Enterprise.

Have you ever had to pivot?
While my business has been established since September 2013, in March 2022 I was led to transition from my full-time job for the 2nd time. While I had done it before, it was still a huge pivot for me because I wanted to make sure I was hearing God clearly (as I did the 1st time). I absolutely loved the work and the people I was serving, but it was becoming increasingly hard to serve in the environment. As I released and stepped into the journey, it became more and more evident and clear that I had made a God move. I became more and more confident. not in my ability, but in God who was leading me. It was the right move, not just for me, but I have been positioned and ready for those I am called to serve. I am what I call, F.R.E.E. (Faith-filled, Restored, Equipped, Evolving).
