We were lucky to catch up with Monet Anais recently and have shared our conversation below.
Monet, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?
From a young age I was surrounded by music and inclined to seek and fulfill the creativity built inside of me. It was aching to get out and life wouldn’t allow me to choose anything otherwise. It started at age 7 when my mom got me into musical theatre. It was fun! I enjoyed being on stage but remember being extremely shy. Over the next few years, I found passion in writing, and soon I discovered I could sing. It helped to have a family full of musicians and even a famous cousin who made it to the top. To say it was inspiring is an understatement. Not to mention the opportunities started flowing my way, to get in the studio and record, to perform on stage; I was sold on a dream and was mesmerized. I dedicated my life to making my dreams come true.

Monet, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I go by Monet Anais. I’m a singer first, screenwriter, model, actress, and now publicist. Growing up in California has given me every opportunity to chase my dreams.
Being an independent music artist has its challenges. You’re all on your own to book your own shows, to connect with producers, to get a project finalized, to get your brand and photoshoots together; it’s truly an interesting process. One of my business partners always talks about how artists “have their hand out”, meaning they’re looking for that one person to help them. It’s true! Many of us are waiting on that one person who will help us make it big. But you know what? It’s up to YOU. This is something I wish I figured out long ago.
Lets fast forward to this year, 2023. Now I’m a publicist and run the PR division of an amazing company called Miezeer. I’m forever grateful to my friend, business partner, and CEO of Miezeer Clifton Alexander who has pushed me to be all that I can. Now I’m on the other side of entertainment helping talent and even businesses grow to their fullest potential and gain maximum exposure for their brands. From digitial billboards to magazines to podcasts and more, I’m able to help other people and guess what? I’ve become that person I needed all along!

Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
I love this question because I feel like it describes my whole life. Things are constantly changing and moving, and nothing ever stays the same. I’ve worked various jobs but never stuck with anything becuase all along I had one goal in mind which is to be successful in the entertainment industry. Blessings truly do come if you keep working at it. All paths have molded into one as I continue on this journey with my company Miezeer and continue pursuing my talents & passions.
With that being said, I encourage artists and say that no matter what you have to do to survive, keep your eye on the prize! If you have a dream, keep going after it.

Are there any books, videos or other content that you feel have meaningfully impacted your thinking?
I was recently put on to Wendy Day, a famous artist consultant, and she has so much great advice for independent artists! One thing I’ll admit is that I haven’t always done the research I need to to succeed in this business, but I know I’m not the only artist out there not doing enough homework! Wendy also talks about the important of doing research and treating your music career like a business and not just an artistry which most artists do.
A few great books I can recommend include “All You Need To Know About the Music Business” by Donald Passman, “Act Like A Success, Think Like A Success” by Steve Harvey, and “Rich Dad, Poor Dad” by Robert Kiosaki.
