We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Mona Seresht. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Mona below.
Mona, appreciate you joining us today. How’s you first get into your field – what was your first job in this field?
Landing my first job out of PA school felt like an uphill battle, especially in the competitive field of Aesthetic Medicine. I knew the odds were stacked against me—fresh graduates often struggle to find positions due to the industry’s demand for experience.
Breaking into fields like Plastic Surgery, Medical Dermatology, or Cosmetic Dermatology are undeniably challenging and competitive. The demand for expertise in aesthetics has surged, attracting a wealth of talent, which intensifies competition among professionals. Additionally, many practices seek out candidates with specialized training and experience, often leaving new graduates at a disadvantage. The industry’s emphasis on results and patient satisfaction adds another layer of pressure, requiring providers to not only master complex techniques, but also to build strong relationships with patients. Keeping up with rapidly evolving trends and technologies is crucial, making continuous education and networking essential. This landscape requires not only skill and knowledge, but also resilience and determination to carve out a place in such a dynamic field.
However, like every endeavor I’ve set my mind to, I was determined. After passing my boards, I spent over three months treating my job search like a full-time role, pouring my heart and soul into every application. Each day, I meticulously crafted tailored cover letters and polished my resume, sending out applications to offices across California. With each week that passed, my determination was tested, but I refused to give up. I was committed to forging my path in this field, relentlessly pursuing my goals.
Realizing that I needed to take a more proactive approach, I turned to cold calling. I reached out to 300+ practices across the San Francisco Bay Area, Orange County, and Los Angeles. I introduced myself, explained my passion for the field, and expressed my willingness to relocate. The process was exhausting, but each call made me more confident and refined my pitch.
In addition to phone calls, I crafted countless emails, following up on my applications and reiterating my enthusiasm for the field. Just when I started to doubt whether my efforts were making an impact, I received an email from a Plastic Surgery office I was genuinely interested in.
Taking the job was a transformative experience. The mentorship and guidance I received was invaluable. I absorbed everything like a sponge, honing my skills and developing my unique approach to aesthetics. I immersed myself in the latest techniques and trends, attending conferences, training sessions, and studying diligently outside of work. Before long, I had built a reputation as a skilled injector and eventually became the lead injector at that practice.
Fast forward to today, I’ve become a sought-after injector in the industry. My phone buzzes with emails and DMs from practices interested in working with me, often reaching out with the same enthusiasm I once had. Little do they know, I applied to work with many of them all those years ago, fighting for a chance to prove myself.
Reflecting on my initial job search, I realize how much it shaped my character. It instilled in me a sense of resilience and highlighted the value of unwavering determination. I learned that navigating challenges often paves the way to the most rewarding experiences.
Being able to turn my passion into a career has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. I feel privileged to be in a position where I can help others feel confident and beautiful while pursuing something that inspires me every single day. This journey has taught me that with determination and a clear vision, anything is possible.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
