Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Mona-Lee Belizaire. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Mona-Lee, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?
I believe that women should live satisfied lives and one of the ways to do that is to have a vision and birth it out. My mission is to equip women to confidently create and carry out their vision. During the pandemic, I had a lot of time to reflect on what was taking place and how I wanted to live my life. I knew that there was more to life than what I was currently doing at work and in life. I wanted to do more and impact more people. I have always been involved in empowering and encouraging others and my degrees (Social Work and Public Health) reflect my passion. I call myself “annoyingly accountable”. I’ve always enjoyed fellowshipping and communing with other women through programs, Bible Studies and leading small groups. I’m driven by people accomplishing what is on their heart especially when it involves people. In 2021, I took my passions to another level and launched my coaching and consulting business. I want to see women win! i want to see them not just survive but actively thrive.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I am a Jamaican born speaker and strategist who is passionate about the development and advancement of people and communities. My passion led me to attain a dual Master’s Degree in Public Health and Social Work. I have over 15 years of project management experience taking projects from conception to replication and have successfully managed projects on the national and international levels, most notably with the United States federal government and in Jamaica and Cameroon.
I leverage my advanced education, training, and expertise, to equip women to confidently create and carry out their vision. When women have a vision they have direction, it helps with making decisions, and they experience life satisfaction. This mission was birth during the pandemic when I found myself saying “I know there is more”. I have always loved supporting and encouraging individuals so coaching and consulting was a natural next step. I have a coaching program, Direction, which is designed for the ambitious woman who is ready to move from where they are to where they want to be so that they are thriving instead of just surviving. I also speak to women’s groups and organizations on how to create a personal vision statement and remain a visionary during times of challenges and crises. I also host The Visionary Woman series where we highlight women that are birthing out or have birthed out a vision to encourage and support women who are doing the same.
Finally, my faith in God is an important aspect of who I am and what I do. I lead with empathy and laughter and believe that we must leave people better than we found them.
Have any books or other resources had a big impact on you?
There are two books that have significantly impacted my management and entrepreneurial thinking and philosophy. The first is the Bible. It is full of wisdom and practical strategies that I can apply to be successful in business and in life. The second is The Principles and Power of Vision by Dr. Myles Munroe (anything by him is great actually), but this book helped me to understand the importance of vision and how it impacts every aspect of your life especially business.
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
One of my favorite stories on resilience is getting pregnant at 18 with my son, Nathaniel. I was a junior in college at the time and I had no idea what I was doing. But I was committed to keeping and raising him all while completing my education. By the grace. of God and with the help of my community, I graduated on time and with honors. My son is a thriving senior in high school, planning to attend college Fall 2024.
