We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Mon Day. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Mon below.
Mon , appreciate you joining us today. Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?
At this chapter in life it was very important for me to find my own niche, along with being proud with what I am doing. Having a large understanding of music has always been a gift of mine and I do my best to express so. It was not until after my first single “HIGHWAY” July 3rd, 2022 when I realized I can and want to take my music career to the highest level possible. A vast amount of encouragement from friends and locals solidified the feelings in held in my gut.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I Armond Richardson a.k.a. “Mon Day” am a musical and performing artist. I venture out my talents in the genres Pop, Hip-hop, and R&B. I was introduced to music as a toddler and stayed highly motivated throughout the course of my life. My grandfather who was also a musician himself, played many instruments and even along side James Brown in the mid 80s. My family tells me that music is in my blood and now looking back at how far I’ve come I can see that is true its in own way. I am proud that I can continue what my families legacy has built, along with my talents gradually growing on the society around me. I look forward to showing the world the best version of me and my music.
Do you think there is something that non-creatives might struggle to understand about your journey as a creative? Maybe you can shed some light?
I think a lot of non-creatives will lack the understanding of the roller coaster effect in a creators career and their momentum. Every creator understands that there are times where you may not have the direct guidance, the blueprint, and the immediate answer on how to move forward. As creators we have to create our own pathways and pave the way for ourselves most of the times.
In your view, what can society to do to best support artists, creatives and a thriving creative ecosystem?
Personally I believe the best way a society can support an artist is to give honest criticism. Let the artist know what you like and don’t like about their music. Also let the artist know what you seek to hear in their upcoming projects. Everyone as an individual is searching for a specific sound and/or poem that best fits their own emotions, wants, and needs. Communication has allowed mankind to evolve fast and in numerous ways.
