We were lucky to catch up with Molly McNamee recently and have shared our conversation below.
Molly, appreciate you joining us today. Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?
I have been involved in fitness all my life. I grew up competing in gymnastics and dance. But, even though I’ve always been active, I’ve not always been kind to my body. I used to under-eat and over-exercise in order to look a certain way.
I had an all or nothing mindset to fitness. I either exercised for several hours a day and ate really specific foods, or I did nothing. Because of that, I got myself stuck in a yo-yo cycle. I couldn’t stick to any routine consistently. Which meant my weight went up and down every month, I felt regularly tired and burnt out, my motivation was non-existent, and my self-confidence was low.
I got myself out of that yo-yo cycle. And now I feel amazing. I only workout for 30-minutes a day. I eat normally. My weight has been consistent for years. I feel energized most of the time. And I just have to share how I did this with the world because everyone deserves to feel this way.
So, I created an online fitness platform called MFit Workouts! I put people through the types of workouts that I do, which are quick, low impact and easy to do at home. The programs on my website also come with coaching so I can help people adjust their habits, nutrition, stretching routines, and more so that they can feel really healthy!

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Most of my clients come to me because they can’t stick to a consistent fitness routine. They’ve either injured themselves in the past and struggle to find ways to workout that aren’t painful. Or they just can’t seem to find consistent motivation to stay active. And most think they are too busy to make time for their health.
My workouts and coaching are a game changer for these people because I help people ease into exercise. If working out is painful, I help them find ways to take the pain away. If they can’t find motivation, I give them super easy things to do that don’t require much motivation. If they are too busy, I teach them ways to move that do not take more than a couple minutes of time.
The actual workouts I put people through are quite unique. I’ve made it my mission to create workouts that are super challenging while also being joint-friendly. Every MFit workout is low impact, so we don’t jump at all. Each workout includes elements of corrective exercise. So threaded between the strength and cardio are mobility-focused exercises that will improve your posture and protect your joints.
People can start working with me a few different ways. I have three main programs on my website. The first is an independent program where you workout on your own, another comes with workouts and group coaching, and the final program is a hybrid between group and personal training. There is a little something for everyone at MFit depending on the level of support you need to see success.
We’d love to hear about how you keep in touch with clients.
One of the biggest things I’ve tried to do in my business is create community. So, when I develop a new program, the first question I ask myself is how can there be more community?
Every single person who starts working with me, meets with me on Zoom. I have a 1-on-1 call with each person to see how I can help them the most. The level of support and community beyond that varies based on what program a person has signed up for.
Each program comes with access to my private Facebook group. That is a place where I post daily inspiration, Q&A’s, and challenges.
My programs with more support come with weekly or bi-weekly Zoom coaching calls. Those calls are either 1-on-1 or in a group setting. In these calls, we connect, I give my clients advice on questions they have, and just make sure they feel seen, heard and supported.
I also do regular workshops. Some open to the public and others for clients only. These are also a great way for everyone to connect while working on something specific.

Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
I certainly had to pivot in 2020 which COVID hit. My business used to be 80% in person. Now it’s 100% online.
Luckily, I wasn’t starting from scratch. I was very familiar with the online space. I’d created online programs before with varying success. But I never felt brave enough to move entirely online until I had no other option.
The first thing I did was move my personal training clients online. I started meeting with them over Zoom. After doing that for a while, I realized I could do a lot with Zoom. So, I started teaching group classes on there too. Then, I got to work developing my “online gym” as I like to call it. I added more classes to my livestream schedule. Uploaded workout videos to my website. I developed an online fitness membership. And about a year ago, I created my signature 8-week training program which is a hybrid between group and personal training.
There was lot of change all at once in 2020. I didn’t know what I was doing. I threw a lot of things out into the world and just saw what stuck. Found out what people like and what I liked doing. It was really a trial and error process, and it continues to be.
