Molly, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Are you able to earn a full-time living from your creative work? If so, can you walk us through your journey and how you made it happen?

The work I do is split between content creation and spiritual readings. Although I was aware that I was creative and into spiritual work, I didn’t know right away that I would be doing both as a combined full-time job.

The pandemic hit and most people lost their jobs. I was one of them and for me, it was a blessing in disguise. I was out of a job and looking to see what else I could start. Talking to others about this was key. A close friend of mine has a foundation and needed help creating content, posting, and working behind the scenes with the team which I had never done before. This is where the content creation started for me. This account at the time had well over 200k followers and because it already had a direction, I just had to keep it going. What I brought to the table was a cleaner, more professional look. Clean images, videos, and captions that would express our mission and connect with our followers. The account has now grown and is close to reaching 600k. It’s been a lot of fun and with their trust in me, I was able to learn something new about myself – I can do this….for a living!

At the same time, without a 9-5 job that I had to go and sit in, I was home and had the flexibility to focus on my spiritual work. I had worked years at a healer’s shop, hands-on, and learned so much. Felt deeply connected to sharing and helping others through different healing modalities. I found a mentor, took some courses, and grew my connection to spirit which led me to grow my confidence and knowledge in order to create my spiritual business. I now run and offer different types of readings to bring clarity to the self. I will say, I did have an idea about this work earlier on, but couldn’t see how I could make a living off of it. It’s a real struggle when what you do/offer is to help those in need and then you have to charge a fair amount for your services but I learned that the exchange is important energetically. A lot of time and care goes into to being able to be a clear channel for another person.

After finally starting this – yes the words “Why didn’t I start this earlier!” came to mind. I was able to start all of this with free accounts. Canva for example has been so helpful to me! I had learned so much and started with anything that was free so I wasn’t putting out money before I made any. Not only has this helped me create for other social accounts but also my own business account. Creating visuals that invoked feeling, adding color schemes and music. I learned I just had to start something to then edit something – which always led to the final product.

Over the last 3 years I have gained clients for both content creation and my spiritual readings. I would say allowing myself to say YES to those needing work from me instead of doubting myself was a turning point. It can be challenging to gain your confidence but listening to those around me, complimenting me, and being happy with the work I was putting out was reassuring and was a clear sign to keep going.

Knowing what I know now, it’s all about playing the game of, “you really have nothing to lose”. When your work comes from a part of you that is already in you, you sorta feel called to it – creativity, spirituality – the missing piece was how to make money doing it. Reminding yourself you can change things at any moment was very helpful.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?

Hi everyone!

My name is Molly, I am currently 35 years old and have always been creative and into spirituality.
I am a content creator and psychic energy reader (@bloom.readings). The two balance me.

I naturally love creating, editing, coloring, and music – the combination of that (which I never thought I would be) became my job of content creation. I learned hands-on. Someone asked me to do it for their account and even though I said Yes! I still had doubts if I was good enough. I learned that there are so many FREE accounts and tools out there that can help you with creating. You don’t have to know it all to start, in fact, I learned as I went and still am. For me, it was having an idea, style, and feeling and then trying to work my way to create that into a post or video. Clients hire me to either do this full-time for them which pays me monthly or depending on my availability, I have clients pay me for one-off posts, a series of posts, videos, or ads. I have an eye for detail and that has helped me because not everyone does and they need someone to fill in those spaces for them. People tend to like my writing style and have asked me to fill out their profiles or their captions because I am able to capture something they can’t from their perspective.

Growing up I had no idea how spiritual my family was… it was just all I knew. But I also had a deeper knowing and calling to this. As I grew up I realized I was really into learning all about this work and that not all my friends were. I openly and excitedly would share some wild stuff and because it was my experience, I knew it to be true deep down. I was lucky enough to work at a local healer’s shop in my town and that was my biggest launching point. The owner and I became very close and I learned a lot from different healers. Learning all the types of healing modalities you can get and why. After being mentored and taking several classes, educating myself, and keeping up with my own practice – I now offer intuitive readings. I am able to connect to your energy and bring through messages from your child-self, your higher-self, loved ones, and guides. I am able to check into each of your main 7 chakras and bring through any messages to you in relation to what the chakra already represents. My goal is to help those needing clarity or healing around a part of themselves. I call my business, Bloom Readings. Bloom like the flower. It’s how I see life, over and over again we bloom – the many chapters we go through in life, are the many lives we live in one.

I am most proud of reaching a place in my life that I not only enjoy what I do but I have created a life for myself that gives me time. Time for myself, time for my family, and time to be in other places and spaces. I don’t do well in an office behind a desk and it was eating at me. I can now work from anywhere which has led me and my partner to open up our minds to more! Our next adventure will be to move to Spain!

Is there mission driving your creative journey?

Currently, the goal that I share with my life partner is about us creating a life of magic and comfort. It started with wanting to do things I love, that I am simply about, that I am a fan of – then figuring out that I can not only do that but also make money doing it. That was a BIG piece for me.
It doesn’t mean it’s not challenging but that’s also how we learn best, that’s how we expand ourselves.
It allows you to work through things that have always been a hiccup in your life. It begins to grow confidence in new areas.

Now that I’m on this path and I work from home, it’s allowed more options to flow into my life. Which leads me to our next goal. We love where we live and in fact, it’s beautiful but we are still young and have time to experience more in life. We decided we wanted to try and live in Spain. My job being remote has opened that door up and now my partner figured out how he can also work remotely. Our next step is the visa process.

This goal has us working hard in our own way. I create my own schedule and internally have the time to make sure I feel good in my body. My mindset and health. It’s been worth it. To start, you may make a lot less while you transition and find your groove. The more you do, the more you show up and stretch yourself, the more possibilities for big results. It really puts it back on you and I think that’s actually really helpful in life. Again, challenging for sure but each day you can start fresh and do more.

What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?

Growing my clients has mostly been word of mouth. So for me, it’s been important to let those around me know what I do and that they can always reach out to me. The beauty of this is – you only accept what you can do and if you don’t know what that is – then you say Yes to the jobs. You’ll learn as you go.

Since I create my own content for social media, what I post has also attracted clients asking if I can do this for them. I show myself off by creating something beautiful which works in two ways for me – showing off what I can do while also sharing my intuitive messages.

In my spiritual work, I love sharing updated information on messages I receive for the collective but I also offer free intuitive messages to some when I feel called to. I put up a message box and allow any followers to place their name in it, in order to receive a message. I often get “Wow, spot on” or “Thank you so much, I needed to hear this” – which leads to them buying a full reading from me.
