We recently connected with Moise Michel and have shared our conversation below.
Moise, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Risking taking is a huge part of most people’s story but too often society overlooks those risks and only focuses on where you are today. Can you talk to us about a risk you’ve taken – it could be a big risk or a small one – but walk us through the backstory.
Just going into business as an entrepreneur is risky, because you blatantly making the decision to bet on yourself. I recall, over a decade ago I had finished written my very first book; “Diamond In The Rough: Trials & Tribulations Of A Southern Belle”. It was sitting on my desk collecting dust til one day my friend and began to read it. Once done with the read, he was immensely impressed by it and encouraged to publish. At first I was skeptical but looking back at that moment im glad I took heed to my friends advice and now I’m a 4x published author. Can’t forget my daughter Samiyah Michel is also a published author as well.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I’m Moise Michel, a man who comes from humble beginnings. With my life journey starting in Haiti, continuing in Brooklyn, NY and currently still going strong in Georgia. I’m a big family guy whose also an serial entrepreneur who wants to continue to create any and everything that would help the plight of black people. I co-own a merchandising brand known as Black Matrix Merch LLC; also co-own a home renovation company known as Taylor Investment Coalition, TIC LLC. Besides that I’m immensely proud that I am a 4x published author. I go by the phrase “I aspire to inspire others through the power of my words!”
How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
With Black Matrix Merch LLC, me & my business partner Rouldy Calixte created it back in 2018. Up until the ending of 2020, we weren’t doing much with the company. Beginning 2021, I took it upon myself to finally create the website, get the company registered as well as put in time, effort & passion behind the brand. I’m glad I did because its steadily growing.

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
I’ve literally built the audience for my brand by simply imploring every buying customer to send me pics I can repost of them wearing attire from the brand to generate interest of other potential buyers. I’ve done short reels of mock ups of new designs and attire drum up intrigue to get folks to check out the website as well.
