We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Moh-sheh. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Moses below.
Alright, Moh-sheh thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?
I knew I wanted to pursue the path as a creative back in December of 2018. I’m a writer by nature, but I would always find myself writing to beats in the notes app, or trading bars with my brother (Treasure) in our group chats, yet I would never record vocals. My friends (who also happen to be artists), played a major role in encouraging me to start making music, as opposed to just writing. I would record demos here and there, but wouldn’t end up releasing anything official until January 2021, which was an EP titled, ‘Only The Prelude’. That first release was a learning experience for me, but can say I’m glad that I took the initiative of putting myself out there. From that moment I decided to invest time in sharping my pen/writing, finding my sound and building a solid foundation as “Moh-sheh.” Fast forward to April 2022, I release my first full-length project, Sonical Hues, which was a much stronger and experimental effort. Sonical Hues was a step in the right creative direction. Since then, I have continued to experiment, working on a ton of new music, which you will get to hear soon. I do have some features set to drop in the meantime alongside my friend and collaborator, FatBoyJonesy.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My artist name is derived from the Hebrew version of my actual name (Moses). It means to be drawn out of water, which is something I’ve been connected to since I was a child. I correlate my music to the ocean’s currents, with my artistry being it’s own unique wave, from the lyrics to my persona. That is what my listeners should expect when they tune in.
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
One of my goals is to impact as many lives as I possibly can while I’m on this earth. I believe that I will be a voice for those that may not always have the “right” words to say, or for those that struggle with expressing themselves. I want to encourage people who listen to my music to embrace who they are and how they feel. I want people to know that it is okay to be yourself in any room. You don’t have to fit in or conform into any of the boxes that society tries to place on us!
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
For me, I would say that the most rewarding aspect of being an artist, is being able to impact people’s lives because you never know what someone is going through. Music is the most powerful source in the world. The idea of someone listening to you in times of need is fulfilling.
