Mochi, appreciate you joining us today. So, naming is such a challenge. How did you come up with the name of your brand?
I remember 15 years ago I wanted to sell online. I was fascinated with “Kawaii” (cute) culture and I wanted to sell cute things to cuties who the same interests as me. I came up with my shop name “Kawaii Goods” because it sounded how I wanted to be. I was selling cute goods to cutie who love “kawaii” things. So that’s how I came up with the name of my brand.
Mochi, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Back in 2008 I wanted to create a shop that will sell cute things such as cute stationery and cute home goods supplies. Then, I evolve on making my own jewelry designs and started drawing. And evolve to making clothing and ever since then my business grew.
Im self taught artist didn’t went to art school to draw. But I evolve each time and grow as an artist and created cute characters.
For me discipline its the key to success and to be good of what you spend on your business so your business can be afloat. You have to see what customers like and what they don’t like. And focus of how you improve yourself as a shop owner.
I provide jewelry accessories, clothing and make purses for a living. I love to put my own art in to my brand. And that what makes it unique to other small business. Each small businesses have their own unique style. That’s why I love to work with other artist and collab with them and make my business grow as a community.
The most I’m so proud of is that I manage to build a good reputation with customers and grow my business even more. I’m happy to say that business its well known all over the world with a unique niche of harajuku fashion that everyone recognize who I am.
Looking back, are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
The resources I wish I knew earlier was to collab with other artist. I always did everything by my self and never collab with incredible artist.
Do you have any stories of times when you almost missed payroll or any other near death experiences for your business?
There was a time in life that was very hard to me. I was feeling very unmotivated to do anything. Luckily i manage to overcome it and push forward to my goals. Friends and family helped me to overcome my depression and anxiety. I manage to succeed what I am today.
