We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Mobeen Mian. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Mobeen below.
Mobeen, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Owning a business isn’t always glamorous and so most business owners we’ve connected with have shared that on tough days they sometimes wonder what it would have been like to have just had a regular job instead of all the responsibility of running a business. Have you ever felt that way?
I think it is safe to say that I have worked a 9 to 5 in my past before, and it is okay to do that for anybody that is still doing that out there. It really is all about the strategy that you use while you are working that 9 to 5 that will eventually set you up for success in the future. The money that came in, I would use it to scale my business, and also use some to invest in other opportunities for myself. Plus I am a student of the game, always trying to learn even while I’m not chasing the bag. We live in a world where having multiple streams of incomes can be really helpful. Putting all our eggs in one basket can harm us in the long run especially if that is all we had. So I guess you can say that I am a happy business owner, but not satisfied. There is such a long way to go, this is just the beginning.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
Being involved in the community has always been a passion of mine. Even if it was just for free. It gave me an opportunity to learn from other leaders, help others, and honestly gave a vision. There are so many blueprints out there on how to achieve the slightest of success in a business, but at the end of the day, if you are not passionate about what you are doing, it won’t work for long. I always had to set an example for myself because I had siblings, cousins, and friends who looked up to me, and sought me out to be ‘different’. So I was forced to lead by example. I was not and still am not perfect, but the idea that I had people looking up to me, pushed me harder in creating a vision.
I was a competitive boxer for 8 years of my life, compiling a record of 22-8, winning the Dallas Golden Gloves, and also placing 2nd in Nationals. This gave me a sense of encouragement that gave me consistency in everything that I did. Plus I always had the passion to help others and use my platform and skills to possibly start a movement. This is when my public relations agency, Focuseddd, came into existence.
With my connections in the professional world, as well as my personal life, the company focused on services that I had distant and personal connections and skills with. Photography, videography, News press releases, customized clothing, and event planning.
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
When it comes to something that YOU want to create and see come to life, don’t rely on anyone but yourself and God. Those are the only things that can make anything happen, ultimately God though. Stay prayed up and just keep consistent at whatever you are doing, it will get accomplished. And if it does not happen for any reason, then God had a better plan for you.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
I learned that when I finally started getting my business up in the start, I had to collaborate with others to make things happen, and to get my foot in new doors. Like business partners. Create that cross promoting and marketing across each others channels. Not going to lie, having connections to reporters and news channels across digitally and personally, helped with creating public relations traction over myself and my own agency, Focuseddd. This led to different marketing strategies for the agency, that resulted in engagement with different demographics and professions of people worldwide honestly.
Any advice I would say would be to know your target demographic, and know who is out there and looking for your services. Find what people are missing, and be that block that solidifies that gap. This will give you more opportunities itself.
