Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Mo The Model . We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Mo, appreciate you joining us today. Risk taking is something we’re really interested in and we’d love to hear the story of a risk you’ve taken.
I took a risk on myself when i was 18, that little did i know would change to whole course of my life. I got an offer to audition for a modeling and acting school, and at the time modeling was not even something i was interested in doing. I was a freshman in college and i didn’t know exactly what i wanted to do with my life. I was confused on what i wanted to do in this world. I swallowed my nervousness and went to the audition and they loved me! I was accepted into the school and took my 8 month course to get my diploma and Graduated with modeling and acting training. I was nervous to step out into the world and show my new found passion, but i did it and I’m so happy i did. Since then I’ve been modeling for 3 years. I’ve done brand shoots, commercials and this makes my second magazine I’ve been published in. Modeling opened another door for me to be a creative director/ event coordinator. I’ve organized and put together my own fashion show, and I’m currently in the process of putting together one that’s even better than the last. I’m also now a Modeling and acting teacher and teach classes 2 times a month. Passing on everything i was taught. If i would have let fear new things get the best of i would not be where i am today. Doing what i love and getting the chance to show others how to be confident and do what they love!
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My name is Mo the Model & I’ve been Modeling for about 3 years now. I started out modeling at 18 by getting my modeling and acting training at a Modeling & acting school. Then i went full force into the modeling field. Since then I’ve became a Successful model, Model teacher/Coach and Event coordinator/Creative director. As Model you have to have the confidence and the courage to step out there as yourself and be who you are. My biggest goal is to encourage all my students and everyone around me to be themselves to the fullest and don’t be afraid of Growth. My brand that i push is self love! I always tell people who ask how i do what i do that it starts with knowing who you are, and loving yourself Enough to not chase your goals, but attract them.
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
Being in the Industry of modeling and being in the public eye can be a lot. Sometimes you get booked and sometime you don’t. The first year that i went into modeling of course i didn’t really know where to start, but i put myself out there. I heard so many no’s and “you’re not what we’re looking for “ from casting calls. It was a bit discouraging. I hadn’t had any real work for a few months and i was a bit down about that. Here i was just finding my passion for something and already being told no before i got in the door good. Although it was hurtful for me i didn’t give up. I let doing my shoots and putting my content out there. In a short amount of time i stared getting myself booked! Not waiting on a handout or for an opportunity to come my way. I made my own opportunities. “If you can’t get to the water, bring the water to you”. Is a saying i hold close to my heart. Don’t wait for a yes from someone else. Make your own!
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
One thing I didn’t have to unlearn, but learn is thatanything not worth keeping or worth value is easy to get . You have to work hard for what you want. Despite all the hard ships and negativity you might receive from others, you have to learn to push through and get to your goals.
