We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Mo Osunbor a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Mo, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We’d love to hear about a project that you’ve worked on that’s meant a lot to you.
Build a Seat – A collective art project created for, and led by Black Creatives at Burning Man & beyond.
Linkit.Black A project that encourages folks to use their own online platforms as media to promote diverse talent.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I am a Nigerian born, Dallas raised Artist and Creative Director who currently works in marketing. I started my career with a pirated version of Photoshop on my mom’s computer. I used it to design anything people needed from Mixtape/album covers, to club promotions, logos, etc. I later went into Art Direction. As a Creative Director I mainly help clients with their brand voice. My most proud work to date is Build A Seat. From conceptual development to collaborating with friends in an unfamiliar field, the project has by far been the most memorable.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
During Build a Seat we dealt with material shortages, shipping delays and working with a new volunteer crew. But throughout the darkest moments, we collaborated and made a way.

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
The only message I would unlearn is the “pick a lane” subject. We are all multi hyphenates outside of creativity (father, son, friend,.. etc.) Creative shouldn’t be any different.
