We were lucky to catch up with Mo Davis recently and have shared our conversation below.
Mo, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Do you think your parents have had a meaningful impact on you and your journey?
My parents were completely honest with me about everything. I was critiqued through love and praised for my accomplishments. My mom did not believe in participation trophies. Rewards were given to the people who deserved them and success was the reciprocal of hard work. Some things never change. If I want an honest opinon about my work, I’ll call my mom first.

Mo, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I’ve been photographing for over twenty years. I’ve always loved everything about art; whether performative, creative or visual. My love for photography and weddings was the perfect combination of a dream job. My clients are a true testament that my photographs are timeless and my contributions to the world of art are valid. I’m most excited about the era of young artists that have shown interest in fine art wedding photography.

How can we best help foster a strong, supportive environment for artists and creatives?
I wasn’t exposed to art until college. Favor isn’t always fair. Growing up in a school system that had limited resources wasn’t the ideal childhood. There should be more programs within the schools that are available. Children need exposure at a very early age. Art should not be limited to people who can afford it.

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
I don’t have a huge following on social media but I do know most of my followers. I share stories that have meaning and are familiar within the family dynamic. I want my audience to see me as a relatable source. My followers see my art through my work and that is the biggest compliment to my craft. My advice is to stay true to who you are and avoid the glitz and shine that social media can often bring.
