We caught up with the brilliant and insightful MNG And Masta Shen Lo a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
MNG and Masta Shen Lo, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’ve love to hear an interesting investment story – what was one of the best or worst investments you’ve made? (Note, these responses are only intended as entertainment and shouldn’t be construed as investment advice)
We would have to say that the best investment we have made would be the 3-5 hours we plan to meet for every week and consistently puting out that content within the following week. (Usually, if everything goes right) When we first started we had different work schedules and such then we do now, but even then we knew the importance of consistency. At the time we were already meeting up on a weekly bases to just hangout and talk. So it was was a natural evolution to add cameras and let others in on the conversation. Tales From The Deep is born. Since the beginning It was always difficult to find days that work for all schedules involved. We’ve learned it’s good to schedule weeks or sometimes even months in advance. There are even times we miss a week due to schedules or just technical issues, but we come back the next week and the week after. Although It is a weekly time investment, we really do enjoy the time spent and good times had. For anyone who has seen our Podcast knows we can have a really good time. And it is with the consistency of carving out those couple of hours a week to meet and get it done that we feel has allowed us to stay relevant and build more of a following with some people looking forward to new conversations, Dungeons and Dragons or the movie reviews we have been doing lately. The biggest lesson is that being consistent with putting out content will only allow for us to grow in the long-term because as the library grows with conversations and content it will provide more and more opportunity to gain more engagement through the sheer volume of options in entertainment we provide. So we follow through because we know that as we do we get more engagement.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
We are Deep Seqtor Entertainment (D33P S3QTOR Ent.) At the helm are MNG (Isaac Carlos) and Masta Shen Lo (Angelo Bryant). We are Artists ( mainly rap music) Podcasters and all around Content creators. We started Deep Seqtor as a rap duo, label and entertainment hub after our last group (Lyriki Diafotismo – L.D.) disbanded. We had done quite a few shows and had a lot of great conversations before we decided to finally start a podcast. We had the equipment, we had the basic talking skills and we had the time. The only thing stopping us was ourselves. So in October of 2020 we dropped the 1st podcast episode on YouTube. (Where we premiere most of our content.) And we have been going strong since. We’ve missed a week here and there but never for too long. Always return with another Tale. Over the years we have expanded our podcast offerings with our “Dungeons In The Deep” (Dungeons and Dragons) and most recently our “Reviews In The Deep” where we do movie reviews on new and old movies alike. Most recently “Good Fortune” written and directed by Aziz Ansari. We love having guest on Tales From The Deep and are always looking to collaborate with new people to make new content with. Most recently we have started to offer our mobile podcast production. We can help you produce your podcast by bringing the equipment to you and having the set on demand. As well as some video editing options. This has been another natural evolution of becoming more knowledgeable about the way a podcast runs and providing the service for others interested but without the equipment.

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
In a way the mission has and will always be to get people to engage in thoughts or conversations that they might not normally have considered. To expand your horizons and open the way that people might perceive something. To destigmatiz certain ways of thinking. Because we feel that it is important to look at things critically and with an unbiased eye to get a fuller idea of the big picture. And while having fun time doing it. This is what everything we do is powered by.

Are there any books, videos, essays or other resources that have significantly impacted your management and entrepreneurial thinking and philosophy?
We would have to say that “The Four Agreements ” by Don Miguel Ruiz has been pivotal to our growth and helping us to navigate working with each other, guests and other collaborators.
1. Be impeccable with your word.
2. Don’t take anything personal.
3. Don’t assume.
4. Always do your best.
It’s 100% worth the read. Don Miguel Ruiz really highlights how the 4 agreements play major parts in everyday life and how holding yourself to these agreements will elevate your life to new horizons.
I, (MNG) would also add that “The 48 Laws of Power” have also helped to give me more perspective on how things may be perceived by others and how thay may go about business transactions with you. It’s a good read that also uses historical context to show how the laws are applied and have be used before. Definitely two good reads that will enhance your perspective.
