We recently connected with Mizz and have shared our conversation below.
Mizz, appreciate you joining us today. Are you happier as a creative? Do you sometimes think about what it would be like to just have a regular job? Can you talk to us about how you think through these emotions?
I’m very happy to have the privilege to do what I love. It has its ups and downs but that comes with any job. I think humans are suppose to create. So I hope as I walk my path, I encourage others to be creative too.

Mizz, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I am a creative multi-hyphenate that specialises in acting, singing and producing for Film, TV and Theatre. I was born in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia but grew up in the UK where I started my training. At 18, I moved to New York to attend Tisch School of the Arts. Since graduating, I’ve produced, award winning music videos, musicals, plays and short films. Acted in short comedies, Web series, pilots and action films. I am most proud of the community I have built and the empathy fostered between one and another.

In your view, what can society to do to best support artists, creatives and a thriving creative ecosystem?
Emphasising the importance of creation in education is essential to foster the next generation of artists. Art promotes well being, critical thinking and empathy there are many benefits to doing the work and yet there are still people who look down on the arts as nothing other than cheap entertainment. Educating children at a young age the value of creativity will benefit society in countless of ways.
Is there mission driving your creative journey?
I think representation in the media is at the forefront of my drive. I am originally from Malaysia and bringing my culture into mainstream art is definitely a goal for me. I think it’s so easy to smush South East Asian countries together, there are distinct specificities between the cultures that wester media chooses to ignore. The lessons we have to teach, the rich history and of course the food is something i’d like to share more with the world.
