We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Miyuki. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Miyuki below.
Hi Miyuki, thanks for joining us today. Are you happy as a creative professional? Do you sometimes wonder what it would be like to work for someone else?
Honestly? The doubt has never fully disappeared — though it visits me less often these days.
There are moments that bring it rushing back. When someone says, with genuine concern, “Maybe you should find something more stable.” Or when I see people I grew up with — steady careers, families, a predictable rhythm — and something in me wonders, “What if?”
I’ve sat alone after financially uncertain months, thinking about what it might feel like to simply… exhale. To stop building something from nothing, every single day.
But through years of meditation, spiritual study, and diving deep into the laws of the universe, something gradually became clear.
This life is bonus time. We are all extras on a grand set — given unexpected time on screen. So the question becomes: how do I want to use it?
Choosing safety over my soul purpose, to me, leads to only one thing: regret.
So I choose this — the instability, the risk, the long days of creating and healing — because they are mine. They mean something.
And I teach this. The greatest thing I can offer my students and clients isn’t a technique. It’s living proof that it’s possible to choose your soul over your fear.
I have to walk that path first. So that they know the path exists.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your background and context?
My name is Miyuki Matsunaga — 松永 幸 — a Japanese actress, voice actor, performing artist, and healing arts practitioner originally from Fukuoka, Japan, now based in Los Angeles.
My journey began in Japan, where I performed professionally as a dancer and singer throughout Southern Japan, conducted a university chapel choir, and worked as an emcee. In 1997, I won a scholarship to the U.S. National Dance Program, which brought me to America — and I never looked back.
In Hollywood, I’ve had the privilege of working alongside Jamie Foxx and Snoop Dogg in the Netflix film Day Shift, appeared in the Warner Bros. DC production Birds of Prey — Harley Quinn opposite Ewan McGregor, starred in Midori in Hawaii on Amazon Prime, and featured in worldwide commercials. My voice work spans movie dubbing, commercials, YouTube, video games, and Text-to-Speech recording.
I’m also the creator of GETA DANCE ART — an original performance art form that blends traditional Japanese dance, modern movement, chakra vocals, and live calligraphy. I’ve performed it on over 200 stages across the U.S., Europe, and Asia. I also play the Shamisen, the traditional Japanese string instrument, and sing folk music.
In 2017, I founded WAVE STUDIO, a performing arts and healing school in Torrance, California, serving the Japanese community and students worldwide. There, I teach acting, voice and vocal training, yoga, tuning fork healing, Reiki, meditation, and more. Most recently, I have been touring the U.S., Japan, and Europe, offering tuning fork healing sessions and frequency energy workshops — bringing sound healing and vibrational transformation directly to communities around the world.
What sets me apart is the intersection of artistry and healing. As a Tuning Fork Frequency Master, International Yoga Alliance certified therapist, and Reiki Master — with training in India, Japan, and the U.S. — I bring a deeply holistic approach to everything I do. I work with clients who are seeking not just performance skills, but genuine transformation: physical, emotional, and spiritual.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
As a performer, there is nothing quite like the feeling of creating something alive — whether on a film set or on stage. In those moments, time disappears. Something greater than yourself takes over, and what emerges feels both completely yours and completely universal. That creative flow is something I live for.
As a teacher, my greatest joy comes from watching that unmistakable spark in a student’s eyes — that “aha!” moment when everything clicks and learning itself becomes exciting.
When a vocal student finds the joy of their own voice, when a dance student discovers the pure pleasure of movement, when an acting student calls to say they got the role, when a healing student steps into their own power and begins touching others’ lives— that moment is everything. Watching someone fall in love with their own expression is a happiness that’s hard to put into words. Their joy becomes mine.
As a Tuning Fork healing artist, frequency reader, and Reiki master, the rewards run even deeper. When a client comes to me in physical pain and leaves feeling lighter — when someone who hasn’t slept in months finally finds rest, when I watch a person slowly reclaim control of their life, their relationships, their sense of purpose — those moments remind me why I do this work. Watching someone awaken to their own power, step by step, is profoundly moving. It never gets old.
Ultimately, what ties all of it together is the same thing: the moment a human being feels more alive than they did before. Whether that happens through performance, through learning, or through healing — that is my greatest reward.

Is there mission driving your creative journey?
At the heart of everything I do is a single, overarching mission: Happiness for the World.
My current soul theme is what I call ” BEING.” It means existing fully as myself, grounded in infinite love, and expressing that truth through every form of creativity I engage in. Not performing a version of myself, but truly being — and allowing that authentic presence to become the art itself.
As an actress, my goal is to portray meaningful roles in stories that move people — leaving them with something they carry long after the credits roll, and feeling just a little more alive, a little happier.
In my daily work — as a teacher and healer — my purpose is deeply personal and immediate: to help people solve the problems that are weighing them down, to ease their pain, and to guide them toward their own moments of awareness and joy. Not to give people answers, but to help them find their own light.
Everything I create, teach, and heal is rooted in the same intention — to remind people that they are capable of more, that they are worthy of happiness, and that love, in its most infinite form, is always available to them.
That is what gets me out of bed every morning.
