We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Miyosha and Jacie Weston. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Miyosha and Jacie below.
Miyosha and Jacie, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. We’d love to hear your thoughts about family businesses.
What we bring is a family environment to this industry and about 99% of our customers feel welcome like family or close friends when they walk through our doors.
Miyosha and Jacie, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
As you know, we initially entered this business as a result of my husband losing his CPAP machine and encountering World Famous Daiquiris and Margaritas To Go, next to the sleep center that provided him with a replacement machine. Since that time, we have seen strong growth in our customer base through diligent internet and social media advertising led by Miyosha and networking through the Clear Lake Chamber of Commerce, also led by Miyosha. Additionally, she has added food to the portfolio in the creation of My Famous Daiq’s and Dogs inside the World Famous Daiquiris To Go #2. Moreover, the business has expanded into catering local events and particularly the food portion into NASA’s Johnson Space Center for Lunch offerings once per week. The vision continues to expend into community events and local custom catered events as resources will allow.
Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
In this business, we had to learn creativity. We’ve learned that wifi goes down, and power goes out. To provide the best services, we were faced with unimaginable experiences of not having one or the other at one point or another. Our first year in business has been the best in teaching us how to pivot. July 4, 2021 we had a POS outage and couldn’t provide our customers with credit card processing, because of that one experience we found the alternative. In February 2022 we were faced with another issue beyond our control. There was a four day freeze and our business had to shut down due to a power outage. Lastly, April 2022 we lost our strawberry daiquiri machine when the motor within failed. We quickly figured out how to maneuver trading out machines and successfully making a switch to provide the best service to our customers.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
The most important thing we have found is content. Customers are visual and they love color and creativity. Particularly, consumers respond to motion video with music in a positive manner. We like to help our customers feel like they are part of the experience, not just purchasing a product. Occasionally adding music, involving our staff in content, and customers shows how we as a team appreciate the support and love from the community around us and visitors. We love involving the community in our community business.
