We were lucky to catch up with Miyoki Jones recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Miyoki, thanks for joining us today. Let’s talk about social media – do you manage your own or do you have someone or a company that handles it for you? Why did you make the choice you did?
At the present moment, I manage all my social media pages. From @JonesStandard to @MiyokiJ, even my cats have a page! I’d like to outsource soon, so I can focus on just production of orders & inventory. Even stepping the pedal on my music career…
My advice to anyone else getting into business, your social media page is needed for professionalism. You can drive sales through instagram, but over that, having a nice & cohesive IG portfolio will earn your customer’s trust.
It shows you care, plus it’s branding.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
The Jones Standard is a play on the old American currency system, The Gold Standard. We are an online boutique, with some brick & mortar locations in queue. While you may not be able to exchange your purchase in for gold, you can expect your purchase is backed with quality. Integrity is our ethos. I’m not selling anything I wouldn’t wear. I’ve always had an eye for fashion & this is my outlet.
Our branding is the Black Wasp Club. Making it cool for BIPOC to be in spaces normally occupied by upper-echelon white society. We have plans to fund inner city children’s equestrian lessons.
As well as tennis, golf, ballet, or even lacrosse. Your body will only grow to the size of your environment, so we want inner city children to have an opportunity to see another side of life. Hopefully, inspire them!

Are there any books, videos, essays or other resources that have significantly impacted your management and entrepreneurial thinking and philosophy?
As of right now, I’m only listening to Audiobooks for the month of April. I started this company in 2020. Nipsey Hussle has a book list online, and it has so many gems!! Some I’ve read already but the rest, I’ve been listening to on Audible or reading it. Nipsey’s list has a lot of books on building his empire. My favorite so far is
The 22 Immutable Laws of Branding.
I heard Lauren London say he would fall asleep listening to audiobooks. #Inspiring
