MIXIE, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Can you take us back in time to the first dollar you earned as a creative – how did it happen? What’s the story?

I have a one hundred dollar bill double-sided taped, and wedged between lots of art, stuck up on my wall. This one hundred dollar bill was from one of my first visual shoots, and was completely valueless. A prop piece of paper that looks cool from afar, deceiving up close, and meaningful to only me.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.

To say that I got into this business by way of accident would be incorrect. I did, however, come to this space by serendipity, risk, and a little luck. I was in bed one night, after “gardening”, listening to my favorite music laying in bed staring at the ceiling. The song ‘movies’ by Yoshi flower comes on. I felt like I͓̽ ascended. An overcoming urge, a shot in the dark, and one Instagram DM later, Yoshi–a now dear friend– and I then went on to create my first project, the ‘MIXIE EP’. I fell completely in love with making music and performing. Once I realized I would be able to weave in my background in visuals, I knew I was home.

Alright – so here’s a fun one. What do you think about NFTs?

My first a fex-boyfriend became a self-made millionaire from NFTs. We’re on good terms, so I’ll give my “GM” crowd a hell yes.

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?

I grew up always trying to blend in. I thought that if I stuck out, even the slightest bit, I’d be ostracized. What I’ve come to realize through experience and with age, is that being different makes you incomparable. When I finally started focusing on emphasizing my differences, living more authentically, I was not, in fact, put down, but praised!
