Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Mista Pimpin. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Mista thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. It’s always helpful to hear about times when someone’s had to take a risk – how did they think through the decision, why did they take the risk, and what ended up happening. We’d love to hear about a risk you’ve taken.
Everything with music involves risks. Its a big investment like any other business from all angles, including financial, mental, physical. A lot of people don’t see the huge amount risks we as artists take. For example, when the pandemic initially started fading out, people were still scared to come out but I had to take every opportunity to get out there. I remember Dj Kane was doing a meet and greet and a lot of people didn’t want to get out of the house yet, but me as an artist, I took that risk therefore, creating one of my biggest songs. This is just one of the risks I’ve taken lol. .There’s so much more risks that I take on a daily that no one sees. I feel like life itself is about taking chances, you just never know what move will change your life forever.
Mista , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Born in Pahokee, Florida and currently based in San Antonio, Texas, Rudy Lee Valadez, better known as Mista Pimpin is an up and coming HipHop/Rap artist with a penchant for writing infectious tunes and relatable narratives. Inspired by internationally acclaimed Artists like Dr. Dre, Three 6 Mafia, 50 Cent, Paul Wall and Chamillionaire, Anuel AA and Daddy Yankee, Mista Pimpin’s music journey began in high school where he started writing rhymes and saving up for his home studio. Being an avid storyteller, Mista Pimpin is greatly influenced by real life
experiences and hardships, allowing him to invoke strong emotions in people. Apart from invoking emotions, Mista Pimpin also seems to have a unique innate competency to ingeniously present music in multiple
styles, all while maintaining a consistent brand, one of the factors that make this artist one to keep an eye out for. With big dreams and plenty of energy to spare, Mista Pimpin seeks to positively influence society with his music, and is well on his way to becoming one of the most phenomenal artists in our generation.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
I fee like in this generation everything is social media. It’s all about creating content and staying consistent. People also love seeing you do the legwork, so show up and shake hands. Post as many pictures and videos as you can of your life, even if its at home watching Netflix with your dog or doing a big show! I’ve managed to grow my following by staying consistent and posting relatable content. People don’t like robot ads or robot vibes lol they want to get to know the real you! My advice to other influencers would be to be yourself and when your not motivated to post, just stay consistent. Any content is better than none. Also always interact with your fans and followers, they want to feel recognized. Let them know you see them and appreciate the love and support!
In your view, what can society to do to best support artists, creatives and a thriving creative ecosystem?
I think society can help us artists by simply showing love. It doesn’t cost anything to hit that “Like” button or “Share” button. I don’t think people understand how much that means to us. A simple “Share” can go so far! Because ones a status is shared, everyone on their friends list will see it, therefore we grow to the public eye. To show love and support is free, and I don’t think people realize how much that means to us artists. On a bigger level, I do believe if more local radio/news stations got involved we would be a lot further. I do appreciate the few that show love to us artist, it truly means the world to us!
