Missy, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?

When I was 25 I was diagnosed with a life threatening illness . I knew what it was like to be sick from a young age. At the age of 3 I was diagnosed with Hyperthyroidism and Graves Disease. But I didn’t know how to quite handle a disease that could also threaten my life.

Even as a little girl, I always felt called to Magick, the supernatural, world’s beyond ours. There are all sorts of phrases and terms we call it. It is the unseen, surrounding and connecting all of us through energy.

Growing up I often felt like the “weird” kid. I remembering hunting Ghosts at the age of 7, collecting stones I found on the ground, and at the tender age of 11 – I attempted my first spell. And from that point on, I never looked back.

So when I began having attacks just a few months after my child was born, in my mid 20s, I turned to Magick.

That’s not to say I didn’t also turn to western medicine. I waited over a year for the numerous Doctors and specialists to figure out the cause of these attacks. Spending hours in the ER, basically living from my bed, all while caring for a new baby. It was the most difficult time of my life. A time where I felt very engulfed by darkness.

And my biggest fear was that my child would grow up without his Mother.

So I began reading. Reading even deeper about the world of Metaphysics, doing research on how I could help heal myself from within and become whole.

Finally the diagnosis came. I was saddened to learn I had 5 Autoimmune conditions, When the doctors said “Addison’s Disease ” I had no idea what this was or what it meant for me. I had never heard of it. It was a very rare condition that affects my adrenal glands, and prevents me from producing Hydrocortisone. The stress hormone that you absolutely need to live.

I finally began treatment for My conditions. They were very helpful and allowed me the chance to actually live again (and not just from my bed). But I was left asking myself why this happened and what work could I do on myself to improve my situation.

I wanted to go deeper. I felt this pull. An awakening from within. I began taking courses to further my education in spirituality and metaphysics. I did this purely out of my own desire, the idea of Mystic & Magick hadn’t even been born yet. I just wanted to learn everything I could. I wanted to take this learning to the next level. It became a way of life.

I became absolutely fascinated with the world of Crystal Healing. I began working on myself and ,over time, noticed shifts in my energy. Fewer ER and Doctors visits. I felt like I was alive again and my zest for life was returning.

Then I did something that would teach me that I was brave enough and worthy enough to do anything I desired. I took a trip out of country, alone.

For many, I’m sure, this doesn’t sound like that big of a deal. But it was huge for me. Having the fear of an Addison’s attack (or adrenal crisis) looming over me, I had developed this terrible fear of being alone. I would have to carry an emergency injection kit with me in case I ever had an episode. Those nearest to me were trained in how to use it. My biggest worry was – what if I had an attack with no one there to help ?

After almost canceling my trip just 1 week before take off , I decided I was done with Fear. I was not going to let this disease dictate my life and happiness. Fear or no fear, I was getting on that plane.

And guess what? I ended up having the absolute best time of My life. The Spiritual retreat fed my soul in ways I didn’t even know I needed. Bringing straving parts of my soul back to life and filling my vessel with pure light . It completely changed my world.

I came back ready to take on anything. With a new perspective that I was capable, I was worthy and strong.

A few months later a dear friend of mine offered me an amazing opportunity to connect with a wonderful wholesaler of Crystals. I did not ask my friend prior, she just offered. She saw my love of Crystals, and the impact they had had on my life and wellbeing.

This was the beginning of Mystic & Magick. And it felt so right – like all the time I had spent learning , becoming a Crystal healer and Energy Worker , had led me to this moment. It was meant to be.

I held my first show at a local shop in Kingston , “From Mercury” in 2020. It was quite a small show, but there was so much wonderful feedback. And in that moment I realized that others were searching for healing, and answers, just as I was.

I saw this as an opportunity to help others help themselves. You see, crystals are magickal, but the true Magick is YOU. Crystals can be a tool that we can use to connect to the divine, to set intentions and send them out into the universe, to use In spellwork and aid in healing.

I felt honored to be able to spread my love and education of Crystal Healing to others. And being able to share this with other souls has helped me heal too. As we exchange stories, talk in depth about personal experiences and form connections.

It has been almost 3 years since I made the decision to begin Mystic & Magick, and during this time we have won Gold in Best Gift Shop for Community Votes Kingston 2021. We’ve been featured on TV on “Conversations from the Psychic Roundtable” with Marilyn Shannon, and even began doing online shows, which has allowed me to reach more individuals than ever before.

Looking back, I think about how everything is born from Darkness. The darkest part of My life allowed me to deepen my search, and brought me to my purpose. I can now look back on these moments with gratitude as I thank the Universe for these lessons and gifts.

Have you ever had to pivot?

When Mystic & Magick first launched I was only doing in person Crystal Shows- at vendor events and shops. During the peak of Covid I had to get creative – with many restrictions and everyone staying at home. I decided to try my first online sale through Facebook Live. I was quite nervous (and not sure what to expect), but it went absolutely amazingly and taught me that often the things that scare us.the most, can be the most rewarding. Mystic & Magick now does weekly live sales on both Facebook and Instagram.

How did you build your audience on social media?

Consistently and Preserveerance is what it takes to build an online following. When starting out, don’t worry about the numbers, but focus on consistency. Be a reliable source for whatever you specialize in, and create quality content. And remember , be real. Your followers come back because they want to engage with you too, not just the products.
