We recently connected with Mission Road and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Mission, thanks for joining us today. f you needed to find a key partner or facility – how did you find them, what was the process of striking a deal like and what would you do differently knowing what you know now?

We found a key partner by sheer luck and an amazing sequence of events. It happened through a chance encounter of someone who heard one of our songs and then made a recommendation to contact another person, who has become a key partner in our progress. There was no deal to be made, per se, we hit it off and the relationship has been mutually beneficial ever since. I don’t know why the other person decided to join with us in our journey, but I think it might have been that he saw something in us that made him believe in our project.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.

Mission Road was formed in the summer of 2021 when vocalist Christina Alexander teamed up with keyboard player and songwriter Elliot Simon. The name comes from the street on which Christina was living at the time up on the mountain outside of Harpers Ferry, WV.

The band is still based in Harpers Ferry and has joined forces with pedal steel/steel guitarist Chris Thompson, bassist Paulie Coconuts and drummer/percussionist Lynn Hillyer. Mission Road’s music is a mix of originals and covers and is country music with influences that include pop, roots rock and Americana. Mission Road released their first album, All I Want to Say in December of 2023. The album contains 13 tracks, 10 of which were written by Elliot. It is available on all major retail platforms. Mission Road has performed hundreds of times at venues throughout the region – the Mid-Atlantic and the South – as a duo, trio and full band.

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?

Our goal is bring our music to as large an audience as we can. We believe our songs resonate with country music fans. Our goal is be able to go out on tour and find our audience. Our creative journey is about sharing our music with as many people as possible.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?

The lead singer of Mission Road, Christina Alexander, virtually all her life, has been told that she doesn’t have what it take to be successful as a singer. The keyboard player and songwriter of the group, had all but given up hope that he would find a partner and collaborator that would be able to bring his music to the public. It took several chance meetings to finally bring them together. There have been moments of doubt, and even rejection but through it the progress is unmistakable. Mission Road been expanding its audience and fan base and has even racked a couple of awards along the way. The future is looking promising.
