Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Miss Trezz. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Miss Trezz, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Are you happy as a creative professional? Do you sometimes wonder what it would be like to work for someone else?
I’m happier that I Didn’t try to force myself into a box and or compromise my dream to work a normal job. My normal job, as a Make Up Artist, I am still a creative and a more of a Freelance type giving myself the freedom and flexibility to pursue music and or other creative endeavors. I never wanted to do anything else besides singing, acting, dance and or makeup so I never could see myself doing a so-called normal job. I’m just not a normal person per se… Ive never been motivated by money, marriage or kids. The whole white picket fence narrative put upon us growing up to me, seemed like some sort of trap or a way to make everyone the same . I had a strong aversion to that at a very young age and wanted nothing to do with that. Lol I knew that subscribing to that default illusion of thats what “happiness”was supposed to look like would have never fulfilled my spiritual and creative purpose here on earth.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I’m Miss Trezz a dark pop vocalist / songwriter living in LA. I have been entertaining since I could speak. Grew up in Chicago doing theater, musical theater, dance. Went to a private performing arts high school and then attained a vocal performance degree from Uarts in Philadelphia.
I loved cultivating my sound through singing in numerous different in bands and always felt most alive in front of the camera or audience.
I’m most proud of my music videos that are all self funded. Growing up with MTV all I ever wanted was to make music videos and that’s what I save every penny for is to be able to produce mini movies for my songs.
I Must say, I also appreciate my drive and tenacity to see things through. I always finish a song, a project, a vision no matter how long it takes. I find purpose in bringing my music alive with creating dramatic imagery through self expression.
I always say, that when I’m on my deathbed I’m just gonna be going through all my old music videos I made and Looking back on how I was able to turn Pain into power, sadness to Beauty and recalling all the memories and bonds made with my co writers / team during that creative process.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
When you chose to be in the entertainment Industry, you have no other choice, but to be resilient because you hear more No’s than yeses, I have always believed in myself and have never swayed from demonstrating my authentic self.
I have always been on the more on the Alternative side of music but teachers were always encouraging me to do pop or country and when you said you were Singer, you were always responded with, “Why don’t you audition for American Idol and the voice?” so I did.
I was at the last cut off year for American Idol So said fuck it I’ll be your token rocker chick and got pretty far. You start in a stadium of I don’t know 50,000 and then it goes down to 30,000, 20,000 10,000 ,5000, 1500 before you even make the first episode. So something like seven auditions later, I’m in a room with Shania Twain and I’m belting evanescence and I’m sure I was going to be on the show. Through this rigorous audition process finding out I had a degree in singing it just wasn’t as interesting as the homeless guy who had one leg and came from some Podunk town who would never had a voice lesson . It was more about the creating a story, a “character,” and at that point, I was already kind of a professional.
They interrogated me about all my tattoos and spun a story about how it was a form of self mutilation and I was just like, this is all bullshit and I’m glad I wasn’t on the show. I still next year audition for the voice just to see how far I would go and I got really pretty far again, but in the same breath, the story mattered more than the talent because after all it is a TV show that really liked to focus on this Cinderella narrative.

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
My mission and goal driving my creative processes honestly is just to continue to be true to who I am, digging deep into my soul and trying to reach my full potential as a human while connecting with others. Making people feel not alone in whatever struggle we are all facing. I believe that we are all connected on a higher level of consciousness, and can get through it by creating art, relating to that art as a way to express, cope and heal through whatever adversity we meet.
