We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Miss Treese. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Miss Treese below.
Alright, Miss Treese thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?
I’ve always been creative and unique. I remember being a young girl trying to understand my divine. When I was as young as 9, I knew I was drawn to music and entertainment. I knew I had something people needed. At 15 I got the courage to pursue music locally and then at 21 I pursued major deals..It’s truly unique, I would create poems and songs for years and it all tied to music. However, present day all those words moved into culture community mental health work. I got it finally now. My purpose to bring awareness to the importance of building a healthy black home. That includes music, Love, poem, words, community building. Creating beauty
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I’m most proud of 2 things. My music released recently. My music does not fit the stereotype female rap artist. My music has a message for strength. My music tells stories of a black woman navigating through love, life and motherhood. Secondly, my recent launch of my podcast “TALK2TREESE” We go live every Wednesday at 8pm on Instagram and the sole purpose of my platform is to address how the Black Community can grow and heal and identify tools, doors and resources to ensure change for the better.
What sets me apart? A few things. I share personal life experiences. Painful experiences. Life lessons. I share my journey even sometimes special family guess. I discuss the hush hush topics my community hide or Tuck away. Non profit. Free. I’m real. No gimmicks. No mainstream promotion although I deserve it however plenty of passion and honesty. I allow people to speak freely, ask for help. Learn from mine or their own mistakes and establish resolutions.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The most rewarding is knowing I’m either inspiring someone, encouraging someone, helping someone, motivating someone or just comforting someone. Knowing atleast 1 person may atleast walk away feeling the faith for a new day.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
I would say despite me taking a 12 year creativity break. Now with 2 young girls at 40, I was able to try. Rebrand myself years later. Make music videos that reflect a new genre if you will. My own lane and while doing that maintaining a corporate career in life insurance management as well as establishing a community platform..
