Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Miss Ikonic. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Miss Ikonic, thanks for joining us today. How did you learn to do what you do? Knowing what you know now, what could you have done to speed up your learning process? What skills do you think were most essential? What obstacles stood in the way of learning more?
The fitness industry is currently experiencing a surge in popularity, with many individuals identifying as “fitness enthusiasts,” including myself. While this enthusiasm is commendable, it’s important to recognize that it doesn’t automatically bestow expertise. I am currently on the path to becoming a Certified Personal Trainer. That said, whenever I share information, I make it clear that it reflects my opinion and that I am still in the process of learning and growing. Even after obtaining my certification, I understand that the learning journey continues. A certification is essentially a piece of paper; the true skill is honed through daily dedication and effort.
First and foremost, I consider myself a student of fitness. Regardless of one’s niche within the industry, we are all perpetual learners. No one can claim to know everything, but it is vital to approach your field with a sponge-like mentality, absorbing knowledge from every available source. Each workout session offers an opportunity to acquire new insights or refine existing skills. I have the privilege of training at FINAO, a gym filled with experienced trainers who generously share their expertise. I utilize them as valuable points of reference while also conducting my own research to ensure I can provide credible information.
Becoming an “expert” in fitness is a gradual process, and though I still consider myself relatively new to the field, I have already gained a wealth of knowledge and I am excited to share this knowledge with my followers regularly.
The pursuit of mastery in your craft doesn’t have to consume you, but it should be a deliberate and ongoing endeavor.
Jia, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My journey into fitness wasn’t your typical, well-planned path; it was more of a happy accident. I found myself out of shape and decided to make a change, never expecting that I would eventually inspire others to do the same. Now, I’ve evolved into a fitness influencer and content creator, regularly releasing programs for my Instagram subscribers. There’s also an upcoming quads program on the horizon, so stay tuned, especially if you’re looking to build impressive quad muscles like mine.
From the beginning, my goal has been to inspire others. I want people to strive for the best versions of their bodies, to embrace their strength, and take pride in it. My proudest achievement is my personal growth, and the fact that I’ve accomplished it through my own efforts. I’ve remained consistent, made mistakes, and learned from them, and now, the results are evident in my physique.
It’s crucial to remember that fitness is a lifestyle, not just a momentary endeavor. If you think a couple of weeks in the gym will change your body for years, you’re mistaken. Committing to making fitness a part of your life can lead to profound transformations, and you’ll be grateful that you stuck with it. But keep in mind, it’s a marathon, not a sprint.
I have exciting plans on the horizon, and I’m thrilled to take everyone along on this journey with me.
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
Nutrition takes the crown, and you simply cannot outwork a bad diet. I’ve been hitting the gym for years, but the real changes in my physique only started happening in the past six months. What made the difference was a shift in what I was putting into my body. Many people prioritize training, but sometimes, you need a nutritionist before a trainer because while trainers can guide your workouts, it’s the discipline to eat healthily that ultimately matters. Fitness trainers can offer motivation, but they can’t instill discipline in your diet; that’s something you have to muster on your own. Remember, motivation is fleeting – discipline is forever.
It’s the discipline in my dietary choices that has enabled me to achieve the body you see today. If I had learned this 2 to 3 years ago, I’d be even further along in my fitness journey. So, for those of you who think you can work off a bad diet, think again. You can’t. Start incorporating those fruits, vegetables, and nutritious supplements into your diet to work towards the best body of your life. You owe it to yourself to provide your body with the right fuel, not just what you crave. Building discipline takes time, but without it, you won’t reach the body you aspire to have, and with discipline, your potential is limitless.
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
My aim is to serve as an inspiration, letting people know that strength is not only possible but also incredibly attractive and beautiful. I’m on a mission to inspire and provide guidance to others on their fitness journeys, especially during those initial, potentially lonely and overwhelming stages. There’s an abundance of information out there, and it can be confusing to figure out whose advice to trust. My commitment is to remain a trustworthy and credible resource for anyone striving to attain their best physical selves.
This journey is about more than just me; it’s about helping others achieve the body they desire as well. I have no intention of slowing down, so come along for the ride as we work towards our fitness goals together.
