Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Mishelle Naro. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Mishelle, thanks for joining us today. Learning the craft is often a unique journey from every creative – we’d love to hear about your journey and if knowing what you know now, you would have done anything differently to speed up the learning process.
I am self taught. I have spent countless hours learning online, taking mentorships and I’ve done a couple of classes. I feel like I’m this industry you never stop learning. Photography and art in general are always changing and growing as time goes on.
Personally if I could go back in time I would have tried to do more mentorships and styled shoots to learn but I didn’t even know they existed back when I started photography. I think all of the skills I learned were essential. The only obstacle I had or ever have is finding enough time to learn more. I want to learn everything I can about photography. It is so beautiful to me to see people interact with their families and also get to experience days that will go down in their families history.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My name is Mishelle I have a wonderful husband and two beautiful children. I grew up in Memphis. I have always been creative in some ways. It started in middle school with buying clothes from the 70s to wear. Then it evolved into collecting random art and putting it all over my room. I didn’t start photography until I was in my late 20s. My friend and I started Wildflowers in 2010 Just taking photos for friends and family. Then we started weddings and were hooked.
I guess what sets me apart from others is my best work happens in the in between moments. Right after you take a photo and the couple is interacting just being theirselves flirting and smiling or being goofy. Those are the real, full of life photos I love.
What I’d like for potential clients to know about me is that on your wedding day I am 100% there for you. I will pin boutonnières, go grab some waters and snack for brides and grooms, hold dresses rearrange timelines if you need a breather for a second. I try to make things as stress free as possible. I truly love what I do. I am so grateful for my clients and friends.

Any thoughts, advice, or strategies you can share for fostering brand loyalty?
I keep in touch with clients all of the time because they become friends. They allow me to photograph some of their most special moments for which I am so grateful. I still talk to the majority of my clients mainly through social media and some have become friends I see regularly.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
It sounds corny but I loooove freezing moments. People are always changing and growing. Art is always evolving. I love getting to hit pause and take it all in. Photos evoke emotion. Sometimes I smile like a love struck fool looking at old photos and sometimes I get tears in my eyes remembering special moments I was able to capture. I love being able to give my clients something they can treasure forever. Something they can put in a memory box or photo album for their children or grandchildren.
