We recently connected with Misean Kirton and have shared our conversation below.
Misean, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. What do you think it takes to be successful?
One word: ‘consistency’. In anything that you do, it will take a high level of consistency to achieve great success. For instance, if you do something which brings you success one day, continue doing that.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I used to take photographs of others from my cellphone. I thrives on the joy that my photos brought to them. One day, a complete stranger, told me that I should get into photography. I decided to invest into a camera. I started out with photos of landscapes and architecture, before moving on to events (parties, clubs, etc). I saved up enough to get an even more powerful so that I could dive into beauty and fashion photography.
With this business I was able to capture high quality images of models while showcasing their beauty and fashion senses. Most times some clients are indecisive of what they want and it is up to me to brainstorm the ideas. I also use photoshop to alter images to the client’s satisfaction. (Some clients may not be pleased with the way their body may look in an images so I work with them to alter the image until they are happy).
I am very proud of my achievements in terms of the types of images I was able to capture., with some images speaking 1000 words.
How’d you meet your business partner?
I met my business partner at the gym (where I used to work) she told me that she had a camera in her closet which she never used. It was not long before I taught her the basics of photography. It took me years to master a camera but it took her a few months to master it. She started diving into events and landscape photography before being confident enough to dive into beauty and fashion photography. I am proud of her accomplishments in such a short time. The moral of the story is, “with the right mentorship and consistency, anything is possible “.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
I used to shoot events every weekend. One week I had 8 events to shoot back-to-back to-back. It took 60 sleepless hours to shoot every event. That was only the easy part. The hard part was to edit 4000+ images in 3 days. Coffee, photoshop/Lightroom, and my apple Mac book were my best friends during those 3 days.
