Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Mirna Vizcaino. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Mirna , appreciate you joining us today. We’d love to hear stories from your time in school/training/etc.
School training was challenging due to having to adjust to learning remotely.
I wish I could say that it was easy. The key was to not give up even when my environment was chaotic.
Having learned new material in a NEW language, so much Sanskrit terminology was overwhelming but I’m grateful for the study sessions my dear friend Beatriz and I had during the two year Ayurvedic program.
The first year I worked towards obtaining a certificate to become an Ayurvedic wellness educator which consisted of taking 14 courses. Then the second year which was optional to take was to become a certified Ayurvedic Practitioner which was 15 courses.
I decided to complete to two years because I wanted to learn more while also being able to prescribe herbal formulas to customers, since herbal formulas are not FDA regulated we have to make sure we are certified and well trained to prescribe herbal remedies.
Towards the end of the Ayurvedic wellness educator program I gained three aromatherapy certifications.
Which I was grateful for since it basically added a certification to the knowledge I already had about proper essential oil usage.
I simply love learning, the more we know the better!
Mirna , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Hello beautiful beams of light!
My name is Mirna, everyone calls me Mir which means Peaceful.
I am a certified Ayurvedic practitioner/ wellness educator. I have also gained three aromatherapist certificates , and the most recent certification was in Yoga Nidra.
I love plants, and guiding people towards them for optimal wellness achievement.
Providing a range of Ayurvedic services that include the following: For pain management, stress, mood imbalances, menstrual imbalances, nervous system, adaptogenic support, detoxification, diet and lifestyle. To offering cleaner alternatives of skin care elixirs. As I like to express,” Smell good and feel good!”
Clients seek me when they require guidance towards correcting their diet habits, making lifestyle adjustments,
or when they wish to embark on a holistic approach and transition from pharmaceuticals to herbal formulations.
After a hour long assessment where we go over the client’s lifestyle history of chief complains, I create a personalized plan tailored to their needs. Where recipes, proper eating times, breath work, yoga poses, mudras, and other ayurvedic self care recommendations. A lot of my clients love when I recommend some of the skin care products I create such as the No Achy achy massage oil, chilled out roll on, Shield field roll on, and cooling tea blend.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
“CALM & LUCID LIKE A LOTUS OPENING UP” If anyone knows where this quote is from let me know, have been saying it for a while.
However like Debbie Ford once expressed, “Like the lotus flower that is born out of mud, we must honor the darkest parts of ourselves and the most painful of our life’s experiences, because they are what allow us to birth our most beautiful self.”
Truly proud of myself for facing many challenges along my lifetime. In high school I ended up hanging out with the “wrong” crowd of people, decided to get home schooled which was the best thing ever. I learned that I could be my own teacher and learn as I went. With the extra time I had I would bury my nose in Chuck Palahniuk books, or psychology, to astrology ( I was very into it, until I ready psychology books)
Then in my mid 20’s I went through a series of toxic relationships that led me to discover self worth. I had to learn the difficult way to put myself first and cut ties with those who serve no purpose for the greater good of ones dharma.
Growing up, consisted a lot of figuring matters out, being independent with lack of guidance, but i’m glad that I discovered ways to better myself, and here we are mid 30’s and thriving like a LOTUS FLOWER!
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
CLIENT testimonials are gold, and word of mouth has been a tremendous help.
Thank you all of my beautiful clients and customers for the on-going support for the past four years.
Also, collaboration event from the healing faire my friend Crystal puts together; offering sliding scale healing services to low-income communities. To all the other event invitations that have reached to have me share my Ayurvedic knowledge. It truly has been an honor. It bring me so much joy being part of a strong community of healers and empaths.
