We recently connected with Mirna Martinez and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Mirna thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?
I would like to provide that outlet for everyone that thinks they could never do more. Our past nor our current situation defines our future. I believe that we should all try to share our experiences as much as we can, to help minimize the mistakes that the next generation needs to do to accomplish the same goals. It all starts with you, self love is important!!! There should not be a reason that a system that has been created to help, be the same system that fails the ultimate mission. #yournotaproductofyourenviorment #youarewhatyousayyouare #elquerereselpoder #weallhaveapurpose
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
My Name is Mirna Martinez, I was just recently named The CEO Diva.. I don’t think titles matter much as the story behind them. My story begins as early as age 2, where I was chained to a dining room table obligated to watch pornography. By age 7, I began to get rape. At age 11 I got pregnant by my half brother, which the blame was put on me. My son was then taken away from me while placing me in different foster homes. Sadly the system failed me and returned me back home. This is when I had to face the decision if I wanted to go home and get rape or hit the streets where I was exposed to drugs and gangs. I then started to work at 13 years old at a bar, since I now how to provide for my self. In the Latino culture once you loose your virginity your no longer classified as a child no matter what your age is,. I was encourage to get with an older man, at age 14 I did and got pregnant once again. Unfortunately the relationship was a abusive and I was able to get out of with a price. I was homeless lived in a car with my child and dropped out of school, which I was encouraged by my own Principle to do so. I decided I no longer wanted to be in the hood any longer. So I went back to High School and did all 4 years in 1 where I then Graduated. I got married and worked hard now we own 5 different companies. We are creating a legacy and I am breaking generational curses. I own National Special Force LLC, this is a security company that provides Armand/Unarmed officers, Private investigations, Body guard, process serving, fire watch, pool monitoring, and even asset protection in construction sites and warehouses.
Security Texas Academy is basically our academy where we certify Level 2 and Level 3, as well as License To Carry.
Xtreme Emotions is a smoke shop where we sale adult accessories. We have Classy Ink Signatures LLC where we do Bilingual Mobile Notary for Real Estate. The General Notary we do it free to help the community. We also have Ground Up Construction where we do Interior/Exterior remodeling and Demolition.
I am currently writing a book series and also going to different events as a motivational speaker to tell my story, I love that I have found my purpose and with that I do tend to create events where I bring the corporate world and the Hood together as one. I have learned that the Corporate world wants to help but doesn’t know who, and the Hood wants the help but doesn’t know how to obtain it. So as the connector that I am becoming I plan to bring both worlds together. Please feel free to find me on social media @Mirna92.22
We’d love to hear about you met your business partner.
My husband and I met in the streets where we both learned how to be on survival mode 24/7. My husband is well educated and had something going for himself, sadly to say this is because he created this for himself not because he was encouraged to do so. When him and I met we spoke different from everyone else we spoke things for the future. This attracted us to each other and we started dating, within a year we were living together. We both quickly realized that in order for us to even consider a future we would need to get out. This was major because I had a daughter that I no longer wanted her to be in drive byes or live in the hood with the life that I did. We started to work hard, really hard to where we retired from the streets by becoming Christians and moving out. In reality I never thought about my self as a business woman, never the less a business partner. But my husband always saw something in me; he would teach me, show me, and involve me as much as he could. This finally trigger something when he mention that we were going to begin to get credentialed as a Minority Latina Owned Business. If I was going to be the face of the business I had to learn what I needed to do and know how to do it.
This is where our partnership began we started learning both our weaknesses and strengths, where we started to implement them in our companies. I would say that is one of the main reasons our companies are doing so well now.
We’d love to hear the story of how you turned a side-hustle into a something much bigger.
We started our first business in our home with a box of 6 grinders, this gradually grew to a large store front. Unfortunately we moved from Dallas to Fort Worth and we decided to put it at a pause. We also just stayed doing online sales. We had really good paying Jobs and we love what we did, but like for many when covid hit, we had to rethink our lives. My husband was being obligated to receive the vaccine, but we don’t even receive a flu shot why would we now consider the covid shot if we never even had it till this day. This made us think what we wanted to do. We were in the middle of a pandemic everything was shut down and our options where very limited. My husband quit his job and the dream that was spoke about 10 years ago was revived and placed into action. While many people did not believe in us, and we were encouraged not to. We had to make it no question about it we had bills to pay and most importantly we had our daughters to feed, and raise. Little did we know that this was the best decision that we would do. This little dream became reality and it was a very big struggle, we had no idea what we were doing. This wasn’t a situation where we knew anyone else that was doing it and we could ask for help. Also the networking in the security business was very competitive so no one was really willing to help grow.
We learned everything our selves, yes we failed and got up and kept going. But this got my husband from working 60 hours a week for someone else. This got me out of working, not being able to see my daughters nor being able to pay for anything I wanted, because we would only have enough to live paycheck to paycheck. Our little dream became reality and it became our biggest answered prayer.
