Mirna, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. How do you feel about asking friends and family to support your business? What’s appropriate, what’s not? Where do you draw the line?

Starting a business is difficult and one must be able to promote it first with family and friends. It’s important to showcase one’s best self and get the support from those who want to see you succeed. Our friends and family have been our #1 supporters and they promote our services by word of mouth.

When promoting to loved one’s, it’s very important not to pressure or only promote your business when you’re around someone. Personally, I have offered our services with individuals closest to us as a way of help. We offer flower arrangements for all kinds of events and special occasions like birthdays, anniversaries, weddings, quinceañeras, graduations, and much more. We are a helping hand to make those special occasions come to life.

Our mission at Delicate Moments Flower Shop is to commemorate any special moments in our lives with the delicate flowers that God created for us to cherish. What better way to make your next event special with our beautiful seasonal flowers and beautify any occasion.

Delicate Moments Flower Shop was started by myself, Mirna Diaz, as a hobby to create beautiful pieces for special events. We are located in Katy Texas and deliver in the Houston area. I started this business with a vision of helping those in need of a florist for all special events. We started with personal deliveries to commemorate birthdays, promotions, graduations, and anniversaries, but are now expanding to build on large events like weddings and quinceañeras.

My passion has always been to help others and I have dedicated the majority of my life in the medical industry, but I have always wanted to explore my creative side. I want to thank Paraiso Flower Shop in Dallas, Texas for pushing me to pursue this dream of mine and start Delicate Moments Flower Shop in Houston, Texas. Our mission is to commemorate any special event with the plants nature and God has to offer us. There is no better way to celebrate any triumph or cherish any delicate time than with our flower arrangements.

We work diligently to make a plan to fit your needs and work with your budget. We strive to create a perfect and memorable moment for our clients with our arrangements. Bringing those smiles and creating those moments is what our shop is all about. Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?

When starting this journey, it had become difficult to differentiate our business from others. It really pushes me to believe in myself and not give up. There are times I wanted to quit, but as a christian, I always leave my future in the hands of Christ to guide the way. There have been times when orders were created but the client cancelled, and it leaves us with a loss. I see this as an opportunity to donate those flowers to our local church. For us, this is an opportunity to adorn the home of our Lord and receive blessings for orders to come. Occasionally, we create beautiful arrangements just to donate. Doing this, is what pushes me to keep going and not give up in the dream of adorning every special place or occasion in people’s lives. These moments provide me with that resilience to continue and grow in this industry.

Any advice for managing a team?

Managing a team is very important to make any business or project succeed. In order to be successful, one must learn everyone’s learning methods and communication styles to work efficiently. It’s also very important for teams to have social events to get to know each other better and understand habits and personal views. Once a team has a good understanding of who everyone is, there must be a leader to aid guidance and keep any task on schedule. Our team works as a family where we are able to contribute ideas and work together to make our projects happen. We all specialize in different tasks, and expect each individual to do their part as best as possible for the next person to work on. At our flower shop we make sure we put as much love and attention into any project as if it were our own.
