We recently connected with MIRIAM AMSELEM and have shared our conversation below.
MIRIAM, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?
Since my early 20’s, my passion has been wellness – mind, body and soul. What ignited this passion was an infertility diagnosis. This diagnosis brought with it a lot of heartache and I was on a personal mission to help myself NOT to be a victim. For me, wellness isn’t just physical health. Wellness is also emotional, mental and spiritual health. It has been my personal practice for over 30 years and about 20 years ago, I started sharing my knowledge and personal experience with others.
MIRIAM, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I was introduced to Holistic Health during the 80’s when I was only 20 years old. My neighbor was diagnosed with cervical tumors and she opted to go through a Holistic route. When her tumors disappeared, she invited the Holistic practitioner to give a presentation at her home, and I was one of the guests. I was absolutely fascinated with the information he shared and because I had the beginnings of an ulcer, I decided to follow his holistic health plan. Within a month, all my issues disappeared. That experience started my holistic health and wellness journey. Several years later, I enrolled in a five year Holistic Wellness and Nutrition Course and received a Bachelor’s Degree.
The Holistic path I chose, led me to yoga, meditation and mindfulness in the late 80’s and I got certified in the 90’s. The mind, body and soul connection is a powerful one! More recently, I got certified in Life Coaching and added that to my business. For the past six years, I have added traveling retreats and local “Daycations” to my business which offers the opportunity to heal while connecting with others who are like-minded. Being able to serve and make a difference in other people’s lives, is my greatest passion. My mission is to guide others to THRIVE in life because we aren’t here just to survive.
Any thoughts, advice, or strategies you can share for fostering brand loyalty?
I’m a big believer in staying connected to my clients. Because my business focuses on Wellness and Life Coaching, I send my clients an inspiring message at the beginning of every week through social media and Whatsapp groups. For the clients who have participated in retreats and “Daycations”, I host a night out every other month – this ensures that they stay connected and they love these meetups.
How did you build your audience on social media?
At first, I was intimidated and overwhelmed by social media. I realized that I didn’t know how to use it to build a presence so I decided to take a few workshops. Those workshops were excellent! I scheduled a meeting with an acquaintance who was a social media marketer. She gave me some excellent pointers in how to use social media to promote my business. I also had a meeting with a friend who helped with branding – I think every business must go through a branding exercise because it will help define who your ideal client is and where to market on social media.
My social media posts on my personal pages, are all business related. I offer information that offers value to the reader such as nutrition, wellness and life coaching tips. I do the same on my business page and I also share personal stories that inspire others. One of the best tips I learned in a social media workshop, is to consider marketing like an advertising billboard. Keeping that in mind, helps me focus on what to post.
