We recently connected with Miranda Vibes and have shared our conversation below.
Miranda, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today To kick things off, we’d love to hear about things you or your brand do that diverge from the industry standard.
My class is for all kinds of people at all skill levels and interests in art. After 3 years of teaching this class, I tend to get the same comment which is, “I’m not a talented artist but I really enjoyed this experience.” and that means a lot to me, my goal is to hold space for anyone to express themselves.
Pouring paint is not all about the finish product. It really is about the journey (corny, I know). In my personal experience art has always been about feeling first, then learning technique. So I love giving people the space to let off some steam and try something new without pressure to perform well. Because really in the end, who cares?! I’m just showing you how to pour paint in a cool way!

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My name is Miranda Vibes and I’m a small business owner and art instructor of Paint and Pour, an unconventional paint and sip class that pops up monthly in Oceanside. I teach fluid acrylic art techniques like the #satisfying paint pouring videos you may see online.
You do not need to be “artistically talented” to join my class, you don’t even really need to like art to enjoy what I teach. As long as you’re curious with a good attitude I can guarantee you’ll enjoy yourself.
You can learn more about me and my 3 year old small business on my website osidepaintnpour.com or follow me on instagram to see photos and videos of what I’m talking about.

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
I had to unlearn the idea that the only way to become successful is to hustle and make it happen fast. As someone who was diagnosed with ADD at a very young age I’m constantly humbled by it. I’ve tried and failed at many different business endeavors. And what I’ve learned in my experience is it’s really easy to start a business. Anyone can make an instagram, build a brand, open a website. In fact, that’s my favorite part of creating a business. Haha. After all my failures and the new found success of Paint and Pour I decided to do something different, I gave myself permission to be slow. I didn’t pour all my money, time and energy into it, I just poured paint. I told myself if people want to join, they will. And if they don’t? That’s ok too. Some months when it was slow and my classes wouldn’t sell I chose to close for a couple months. But every time I came back it would sell out. This might not apply to most entrepreneurs, but it’s my story. I took my time and you can too, the point is to not stop aiming for what you want, and stay present.

Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
The business answer: I knew from the beginning that I wanted this class to look aesthetically pleasing. I was searching for something different from the normal paint and sip formate. I had my friend take all the photos for my classes so I had a consistent look. I also purposefully hand crafted the color pallet so that the paintings in the end were cohesive but with enough variation. The Miranda answer: I love to party. Haha, being able to throw a party, bring all kinds of people together and share an activity means so much to me. I’d like to think that for whatever reason people sign up, in the end they enjoy themselves and get something out of it. I care about my students and I want my class to be inviting and non-intimidating to non-artsy folk. This is an art form for everyone.
