We recently connected with Miranda Reyes and have shared our conversation below.
Miranda, appreciate you joining us today. Do you take vacations? Why or why not?
Absolutely, this is my release. Getting away, being able to take breaks, stepping away from the end of a season or mid-season. Everyone should have their own escapism and this is definitely mine!
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
I was born and raised in the Phoenix Metro area (yes, I am a true native to AZ!) and grew up throwing parties & gatherings with my mom. Our family is Filipino, so if any of you know any Filipinos you know we love to party. I earned a golf scholarship to Southern Utah University in Cedar City, UT and was at the crossroads of do I go get a corporate job or do I start my own company? I ended up doing both, but 8 months into my corporate job quickly realized it surely wasn’t the path for me.
Starting into the industry was rough. I sent hundreds of DMs on Instagram to anyone and everyone within this industry just trying to get a foot in.. rentals, florals, decor, planning, catering… I just wanted in. Maybe after about 30 replies or so, I had 3 event planners that allowed me to shadow them for the fall season of 2019. These 3 I will forever credit my start into this industry, so thank you Janet, Amy & Jeanne!!
Of course as I started to hit my stride, Covid -19 hit and the world shut down.. My first real season of getting into the industry and having a fully booked spring, completely wiped. It was during this time however when AZ was back “open” that our team ended up hosting 20 different styled shoots. We saw a need for content in the market, photographers were hungry to shoot, vendors were ready to get back into events. From the shoots, we blossomed and built our name for ourselves.
Our company provides wedding and event planning and balloon services, and we absolutely love being apart of all of life’s beautiful occasions.
We are big problem solvers off of the back end, trying to avoid any problems that may arise.. and then we are also on the front end on the day of resolving any problems that do arise.
What really sets us apart is our loving & caring-ness in nature. We do stay pretty level-headed on the wedding day as well!
We are proud to chat with & accept anyone that may want to get into the event industry, because it was such a challenge for me getting in.. I’ve made a promise to myself to say YES to whoever would just want to chat! The mentorship portion of the company has been so exciting and fuels my internal fire I even stronger. We’ve had the great fortune of growing relationships with the ASU special event management department as well as the GCU career development program.
Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
COVID. Talk about a pivot. When no one could see each other, I still made it a point to connect with my friendors.. I started a podcast called All the Nuggets that allowed us to all stay connected and share our businesses. Also during the birthday drive by phase we got into painting posters and setting up balloons as well!
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
Content content content. Posting every single day through Covid, through everything was so important. As well as showing my face on stories, people WANT to get to know the person behind the account!!
