Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Miranda Malone. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Miranda, appreciate you joining us today. How did you learn to do what you do? Knowing what you know now, what could you have done to speed up your learning process? What skills do you think were most essential? What obstacles stood in the way of learning more?
I started out with the natural eye to capture great photos. However, I took some continuing education courses in photography to enhance my skill. I actually wish I had picked up on my gift sooner in life. I think I would’ve been so much far along in my business. The most essential skills were learning the total functions of the camera. Currently I work a full time job in the medical field. I do most of my photography on the weekends. Unfortunately this limits my time to presume further skills and marketing. I look forward to growing and enhancing my photography business in the near future.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Hi,
I’m Miranda Malone Atlanta Native
Photographer. I started out basically as a professional cellphone photographer. Seriously, I was the designated family photographer with the cellphone. My cousin mentioned that I should think about getting a camera. Did I. mention my father was the family photographer years ago.
Maybe it rubbed off a little. The following year I was gifted one from my husband. I offer my professional eye. I have a natural skill of capturing meaningful moments. This why I chose LifePrint Photography as my company name. I capture any moments Life has to offer. I offer images of clients and consults prior to session or event to discuss theme, details or develop a plan to fulfill the total experience the client is seeking. I think what sets my apart is that I’m an involved photographer . From private sessions or Events of any celebration. I love to get in the midst of things and get my client excited about their session/experience. Every client is costume catered to according to their specific needs. We will definitely “Pose Out Loud ” to create meaningful and memorable LifePrint images..
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
My goals is to encourage people that you can’t retrieve those special moments once they are gone. So its very important to capture .Even with nature things change over time. The sadest thing for me is to hear family members say we were supposed to take generational pictures after someone has passed away
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
I had to unlearn allowing people to take my business/ craft for granted . Basically in the past I have allowed people to negotiate my rates . Being considered new in the industry something you will have your freelance experiences to build your portfolio. However, once you learn /know your worth. You shouldn’t allow clients to low ball you. Especially when you take in consideration that after any event or session there is still additional work that has to be done. Editing etc.
