We were lucky to catch up with Miracle Ehioghae recently and have shared our conversation below.
Miracle, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today How did you learn to do what you do? Knowing what you know now, what could you have done to speed up your learning process? What skills do you think were most essential? What obstacles stood in the way of learning more?
I learned how to do makeup by watching a lot of YouTube videos, I still do. I watched people who had similar looks and techniques like me. I spent hours practicing on my friends with every new technique I learned and knowing what I know now, I wouldn’t change the process to speed anything up because this is not just a craft to me but a passion and a talent.
Miracle, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Hello everyone!
My name is Miracle Osas and I am the Face & Brand behind Facesbymiracle, a makeup service. Makeup was a craft, I naturally gravitated towards. I always loved makeup and dressing up from when I was a little girl, watching my mom take her time to get ready while she applies makeup and perfectly pick out her outfit and hairstyle for various occasion. Fast-forward to when I was in college, In 2013, I met my best friend and we bonded over our love of makeup and dressing up, we used to spend hours in dorm doing our makeup and practicing new techniques we just learned from a YouTube video to go absolutely no where haha…eventually in 2017, I started offering my services with no knowledge of how to run a makeup business, I was unequipped to handle clients and thought it would be like how it was when I was in college. I later took a break to learn more about makeup, find my niche and understand what kind of services and experience I wanted to offer my clients. I watched lots of YouTube makeup videos, learned about various types of skin, techniques that goes best with various face shapes, skin products and color theory, then came back solidly in 2020.
I am proud that I never gave up on myself or my passion. It’s crazy how far I have come and I forever owe all the glory to God.
