Minty, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Are you able to earn a full-time living from your creative work? If so, can you walk us through your journey and how you made it happen?
Barbering is an artistic craft; your hair is the canvas, we are the artists, and our razors & shears have always been our tools. Not only is it an art, but there’s also a science behind cutting hair; accounting for your hair texture, your head and facial structure, the seasonal weather, and the product that best compliments you. You have the creative freedom of wearing your hair the way you like. Everybody has their own signature style, and our goal is to deliver what you’re trying to achieve. People want to feel better by looking better, and Minty Barber is here to deliver the service that’s Meant for You. Think of our haircuts and beard trims as that custom tailored suit you always dreamt of wearing; we really do customize your haircut for you. Our barbers are artists and we all take great pride in our haircuts, our beard trims, and our straight razor hot towel shaves. Minty Barber aims to restore a lost art; the art of authentic barbering. Recently, we see a lot of barbershops drift away from this art, and instead focus on the free beverages, the flat screen TVs, the fancy lounges, and pool tables. What happened to providing the necessities of a barbershop? The place you go to for great haircuts, to get pampered by a straight razor hot towel shave, to find good and insightful conversations, and to escape the hustle of daily life.
Minty Barber is your friendly neighborhood barbershop; here to offer the essentials of a barbershop without the confusion. We take great pride in our tailored Haircuts, our finely executed Beard Trims, and our traditional Straight Razor Shaves. Prior to a service, we take the time to consult you. Consultation is important as it allows us to get an understanding of the image you want to achieve. We don’t rush your service because, well, you simply can’t rush greatness. We have a team of talented barbers that have the versatility to cater to all hair types and lengths. After all, a barbershop is here to cater to the entire community.
We are known to be the late night barbershop; we’re open till 10PM on weekdays (including Friday)! We offer the basic services; Haircuts, Beard Trims, Clean Ups / Edge Ups, Junior cuts, Buzz cuts, and Hot Towel Straight Razor Shaves. Our Minty Hangover Treatment is our facial service for both men and women, and we also offer the Back & Sides service for the people that have messy hair but love the length they have on top.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The beautiful thing about being an artist is seeing your creation come together. You have an image of yourself in your head; we take the time to consult you in order for us to envision that image and deliver it to you. Like any other artistic masterpiece; it might get messy at first, but the end result is breathtaking. The beauty of barbering lies in the creative freedom; the freedom of having your own signature style and the freedom of the barber to express their talent in delivering you a custom tailored image. Ya’ll might not see it while sitting on the chair, but we get a thrill when seeing chaos come to order. Our goal is to always bring your hair to the proper order in the proper way. We said it once but we’ll say it again; your hair is the canvas, we are the artists, and the scissors & razor are our tools. Now sit back, relax, and let the artist get to work.
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
The people of our community deserve better! The concept of a barbershop drastically changed in recent times; people are going in to a barbershop and getting everything except a finely executed service. They get bombarded by liquor, 60″ plasma screen TVs, a high end membership lounge, and, then in the end, leave with a mediocre haircut. We are driven to give the people of our community what they have been missing; a place where they can get a great service with an even more impressive end result. Art never fades away, trends come and go, but the one constant is that we keep getting better in our craft so we continue to deliver the services that are Meant for You.
